Subject: 32 inch tires
IP: Logged

Message:
Simple question: I have a 99 dakota 4x4 with stock suspension. I currently have 31x10.5 inch tires on with it seems like room to spare.. so i was wondering if you guys knew if 32x10.5 inch tires will rub at all ( if it is only rub on the frame on a full turn its no big deal). I also have American eagle alloys aftermarket rims (15inch). The tires seems to stick out further out of the wheel well/fender that stock.. so that might be helpfull... thanks for your answers.

this is the same thing that I've been wondering, but everyone that replies has tires wider then 10.5" and says they rub. I have the 99 as well and it looks like if you stay with 10.5" width on that 32", it should fit. The best way would to get out and measure.

If you put them on, post back with your results please? :-)

I have 265/75-16's ( which are = to 32 x 10.5's )
I have these mounted on 16 x 8 AR baja's which I beleive are 4.5" of backspacing compared to the stock rim which is 5.5" of back spacing.
There is no rubbing on frame but i did have to trim some of the inner plastic in the wheel well so there was no rubbing. You can't even tell there was trimming done unless you take the wheel off and point it out to some one.

do you think they would rub with the OEM wheels like I have on the 99?

wait a sec... I just re-read that. I had that exact size tire on my Ford Ranger with no rubbing at all, but it is smaller then a real 32x10.5. I think 31.6" tall and 10.4" wide or something. Close but a little smaller. Maybe close enough is tire mfgr' have loose tolerances on what makes a 32x10.5?

If you crank the torsion bars up and level the truck, and have a proper wheel with the appropriate backspacing, it works. I did that before I lifted mine, and never had any problems. It actually makes the truck look a lot nicer too. My tires were 32x11.50 dunlops.

Do a search, there is a ton of info on this subject here. I
have 32" MT/R's on 7" wide rims (stock rims), before I
put my lift in, and there was no rubbing anytime. I
believe if you have 8" wide rims, then it will rub a bit a
full crank.
