Message: I noticed that you turn 32X11.5 with the 3.55 gearing. I have a 2001 3.9V6 and what do you think about turning 31X9.5 or 31x10.5. How do you think my gas mileage will suffer or is that to much strain on my stock engine?

Message: You should be able to run the 31's with little trouble. I am assuming you have the little P235 bicycle tires like I had on the truck stock. I think the 3.9 makes enough torque to handle the 31's ok. Go with the 31x10.50's over the 9.50. Same height, but that extra inch will give you more flotation and traction off road and more traction on road as well. AS for the gas mileage, you will get better mileage on the highway because the engine will be turning at lower RPM's, but you will use a little more gas off the line cause it will take a bit more to get moving. It really equals itself out, what you use off the line it will make up for on the highway. Just for comparison, I have always ran 33x12.50's on my fullsize 4x4's (this is my first mid/compact size truck) with 3.55 gears with no problems.
Has anyone else tried this setup?
