Subject: control arms? IP: Logged
Message: What are the differences between 2wd and a 4wd control arms other than the torsion bar keyways and the shock mount? Could 2wd control arms bolt to the 4wd frame mounts and would a 4wd hub bolt in place of a 2wd spindle? Basically I know they make arms for a 2wd that are 3" longer and provide like 3" lift. Could I put that on a 4wd as long as I don't plan to use the torsion bars?

Message: nope the geometry is different , where they hook up to the frame is different , the 4by has no springs and no housing ...........totally different , plus the spring is what gives you the lift ......................

Message: Even if they did mount up, the extra lenght would screw with the front cv shafts. they would probably be at a bad angle and wear, or they would be too short and wear.
