I have heard that they are great tires. Peterson's 4 wheel did an article on them a few months back and said nothing but good things about them. Good wear, Good traction, Good sipping, Good cleaning. When I am in the market for Mud tires, they are going to be the ones I get, they have a good price as well... besides, they're Swampers!!

they tested them for about 10K miles and they said they were wearing very well. I saw the mag this weekend, and its the May 2003 Peterson's 4Wheel and Off road.

I'm also thinking about a set of these. I hear from everbody, that for the money they are hard to beat. The only thing is that people say they are quiet on pavement. I have Baja Claws right now and I don't like quiet tires. I like the kind that will sing to you and scare deer out of the way on the Blue Ridge Parkway. For all-around the TrXuS MT's are great, but not for all out mudding where you would need a Bogger, SSR, or TSL.

well i'm stumped, i can't decide whether i want LTB's or the trxus m/t. Please answer these questions if you can.

1) does anyone know the wear difference between the trxus m/t and the LTB's.

2) How much harder do you think that 33x13.50 LTB's would be to fit with a 3" bl with some help from the tb's cranked an 1" and a half. I am going to use AE 589 15x10 wheels.

if you know anything on these two tires please answer my questions

For ? # 1. Wear diffence. I can't say personally but think about it. The LTB is an aggressive BIAS ply tire that comes in weird sizes. You are asking for trouble if you put a 13.50 on a ten inch wheel on a Dak. Not only rubbing, but the extra leverage will cause too much stress on front end parts like ball joints and it won't help your hubs either. I'd say you'll get 15 to 18k miles out of these if you don't break something on your front end first.
As for the TrXuS. Maybe 30 to 40k miles if your not to hard on them. They are radials and will handle a lot better on road. If I'm not mistaken, they come in 6 and 8 ply sidewalls. They will not go as good in the mud as the LTB's, but will go better longer as the tread will probably last a lot longer. They are almost as good as a TSL radial off road. I'd say they'd go about as good as your average "generic" mud tire.
If you only do 5% of your driving on road, get the LTB's. If you do 95% of your driving on the road get the TrXuS.
By the way, with a T-bar crank and a 3-inch body lift with 33-13.50-15 LTB's, this is what it will sound like when your 'wheelin'...SCRREEE!!SCRAAAAAPEEEE!EEEEERRRTTTT! Don't worry about trimming, since these things will obliterate your inner fender plastic and you fender flares. The Eagle 589 15x10's with their backspacing will only make it worse.

to tell you the truth i'm not going to be offroading a lot (like 95-98% of the time i will be on the road). and i have seen it done before with 15x10 wheels and 33x12.50 tires. I will probably get the trxus m/t's, and i know that no matter what 33's i get i will have to trim some more than likely and i don't mind trimming some as long as it is plastic and not sheetmetal.

I posted this several months ago, I was answering questions about the MTR's, but the comparison may be helpful in your search.

The Feb issue of Petersens did a mud tire test.

6 Mud tires were compared. BFG MT, Goodyear MTR, Mickey Thomson Baja Claw, Pro Comp X-Terrain, Super Swamper TrXus, and Super Swamper TSL

The MTRs scored first in the looks department, 3rd in the noise dept (comment was "louder than you would expect") and they scored a distant 5th place in the distance test.

mud pit distances:
TSL 59'
Baja Claw 57'
MT 46'
TrXus 44'
MTR 25'
X-Terrain 18'

Conclusion: MTR's are great looking tires and in all past reports score well in the rock crawling area (tough sidewalls). Not too good in the mud though.

thanks canyonD, does anyone know how hard it would be to fit 33x12.50 on 15x10 AE wheels and put them on a dak with a 3" bl and torsion bar turns. Like how much trimming do you think i will have to do. thanks

All you'll need is just a little trimming to the inner most inner fender plastic on the bottom. A good way to check level clearances is to put it in park and crank the steering wheel all the way over to one side where your tires will be inside the wheel wells. Also, if you go off-road and experience a little rub, get out and check inside your wheel wells and see what plastic has been rubbed "clean". Good luck.

i have a set of LTB and they are the best tire i have ever had i've had claws, tsl, wild country and BFG mt nothing has done as good in the rocks and mud as the LTBs but they are very rough on the street 0 to15 mph rides like a bogger if you want noise and the best off road tire for the money LTB is the way to go i'll bye more when these wear out might get 15k miles on the street
