i am going to put the three inch body lift on my truck soon and also put a two inch coil lift in the fornt. I wanted to know what kind of gearing i should go with if i put 33's on. Can i wait till later to buy the gears. Im kind of on a budget. Any help would be appreciated. Would it kill my gas mileage or maybe even my engine to run stock gearing?

your going to see a drop in gas mileage either way even if your changing gears. by changing gears you're increasing engine rpms and using larger tires without changing them makes the engine work a lot harder to turn the rubber (also makes your truck run like a sloth without the proper gears) but i would think you could be ok for holding out on gears for the meantime. In my opinion though, 33's are not that drastic of a change in tire size and i have run 36's on a dodge fullsize with stock gearing- take offs were rough but i didnt have the money at the time either.

im not sure the gears that i have on my truck now but i have the 3.9 V6. I just dont want to jack up the motor. This is my daily driver. I just want it to look good. Dou you think that five inches in the front and three in the rear would be enough to clear 33's.

i switched to 33s after my body lift. and i am still running the stock gears. gas went from 19 to about 14 miles a gallon and lost alot of the quickness it had but i woundnt change a thing it looks great and when i have a exter 1000 dollors around i change gears then. just my 2 cents

I have the stock 3.55's. I was still able to hit the governor that used to come in at 112. Now it hits at about 118 due to the speedo being off. I do have a V8 reg cab body lifted on 305-70-16 Mickey Thompson Baja Claw radials. I was racing a Crown Victoria cop car from New York. We were dead even at 118 when my gov. kicked in. The guy I was racing kept it hammered down as he kept accelerating. I guess he probably hit 130+. I don't think I want to try to hit that speed again, but the truck was not as unstable as I thought it would be. I do have a few mods to give me about 270 H.P. The truck was running 15.6 quarters before the lift and 33's. I think 33's with a V6 and 3.55's is fine as long as you don't try to tow something heavy.
