Subject: solid axle conversion questions IP: Logged
Message: what do you do with the power steering? is there a hydrolic ram that you just mount on the axle to steer it? what about the lines? i have ps on my 96 so can i just take the lines from my ps and put them into a cylinder?
also, will my driveshafts hook up to the new axles? will they be long enough? Thanks, Steve

Message: Two words:
Custom Fabrication.
That will have to be tackled by most likely piecing in parts from something else (ie. maybe from the same type of vehicle the front axle comes out of or maybe a full size Ram...etc.)
Same driveshafts? Most likely you want to perform such a mod to fit MUCH larger tires. Your stock shafts will most likely become the weakest link.....again..custom fabrication.

Message: If you want to use oem parts find the same year of your truck in 4wd solid axle variety assuming your converting from a 2wd truck since it is a 96 model year. Just check out all the junk yards. That would be the cheap route and would not require as much custom fabrication per say.
