Message: Air down to about 20psi, and ROCK & ROLL! You may need to go lower but thats what I have been going to at the beach and it works perfect for me. You know I'd be there in a heartbeat but I think it might be a bit of a drive for me. :-) Take your camera with you. Must have pics!

Message: Hey Tony,
I'm headed for Silver Lake state park .. up around Ludington, MI. I checked the map and it's about 236 miles from you. You'd just follow Lake Michigan shoreline about halfway up the state of Michigan and you would run into it. Be my first time out playing in the sand. Been in mud, snow, water, muck, crud, slop, and goo -- but never in sand! hehehe

Last year was a blast, and I didn't even have my 4x4 then!! I'm still curious on how y M/T's will do in the sand though with my 4880lb QC

Message: Just wanted to let you guys know that I am back from the dunes and the Dakota performed FLAWLESSLY!! I could go anywhere and everywhere (and did too....hehehe). Was my first time in the sand and was a little cautious at first. Sat at the bottom of Test Hill (the biggest, steepest hill on the dunes) and watched for quite awhile as trucks of all makes and models scrambled to try to make it up the hill. Saw many trucks try and fail. Finally, I drove toward the hill, and TROMPED ON IT. The dirt flew and the exhaust roared. Made it up on my first try. And second. And third. And fourth. hehehe
Had to take two runs at one hill just one time all day. That was cuz I let off too early and didn't have enuff momentum to carry me over the crest of the hill. Other than that, the Dakota well exceeded my expectations. I thought the extra weight and longer wheelbase of the quad cab would hamper me. I respect the Dakota's power much more after today!!!

Message: Give the old BFG's a little credit too. HEHE. That is the result of great tires on a great truck. After my very first time off road in mine, I was hooked. These trucks are natural off roaders. I can only imagine what it will be like with a susp lift and 33's ( or 35's in your case :-)).

Message: Hey - Pismo Beach brings back some good memories for this native Californian (transplanted to Ohio). However, you wouldn't BELIEVE the sand dunes in Michigan along the shoreline of Lake Michigan. Definately the biggest I've ever seen anywhere!!!

Plan to bring the dirt bike/mountain bikes as well. From what I've seen of Michigan; you've got a great place to live and play.

I was playing around in Colorado's Great Sand Dunes yesterday. Not the dunes but a trail next to them, full of sand. A Cheby was racing towards me so I frantically went into the place off the road to pull over to when someone comes. He roared past me, without waving.
So I was fuming and saying not so nice things about Chebys. I was in 2wd, because it was pretty hard on this section, but the place I turned into wasn't. In my anger I failed to notice, and had sunk in a bit. I went and didn't move pushing it to 3.5 rpms, she slowly moved, jamming it into second I got going again....Dern Cheby.
Only reason I wasn't stuck was torque.

Message: Thats one thing I have noticed (and love) about Daks. Even my heavy quad cab. While they are heavy trucks, they are still a tad bit lighter than a full size, yet have the same (usually more) power than a full size. We definitely have the power to weight ratio advantage. About the Chevy's, I have noticed that SOME (not all) chevy owners here seem to have attitudes a little. I have had them yelling and laughing at my truck at the beach, only to find them stuck later. Thats when I drive by really slowy, circling them a few times, smiling. Oh yeah, I am usually doing this is 2wd and give her a little juice just so they know that I am in 2wd where they got stuck in 4wd. If they are polite at that piont then I usually pull them out. If not, I smile and say have a nice day and drive away. Always trying to be polite while getting my point across at the same time. Dont want to give us Dak owners a bad image.
TORQUE... I love that word. :-)
