Message: I have a 2001 4X4 CC, im tryin to figure out which way to go of even if i can go either way. Will the 285 75 R16 mud terrain fit on my truck stock? 285 75 R16 all terrain? if not i will have to go with a 275 if that wont go i will settle for the stock 265 mud terrain or all terrain. Also how much should i expect to pay for a 3" body lift on my truck? any help is appreciated. I am looking for deffinite answers relating to the tires b.c i am gettin the set this weekend at the latest.

Message: if you are going with the body lift, go for the 285's. if not, you can squeeze 275's if you crank up your torsion bars. (do a search on this site for that info).
as far as mud terrain versus all terrain: go with the one you need, they will fit basically the same under your truck. The mud may rub more at full turn depending on your size.
As far as body lift. I got mine from summitracing.com for around 70 bucks. I didn't have the time to do the install so I got it done at a truck accessory place for 300 bucks. You can do this yourself with general mechanical skill. The hardest part is welding an extension into the 4x4 shifter, but if you have the 2001, you probably have push button, so I am not sure if that even applies.
if you are against the body lift, you may be able to squeeze a 285 in there if you crank the torsions and trim the front bumper and inner splash gaurd in the wells.
Recomendation: go for the body lift and 285's...
I have a 97 with the 3" body lift, AR black steel rims(same as stock setback) and 33" cooper s/t tires this is a great setup for a little price

Message: Hey, Jim's4x4
I just got finished putting the Performance Accessories body lift on my '01 Dakota and it was easier than I thought it would be. If you have an automatic transmission and a switch on the dash for the transfer-case, the lift is much easier. No welding for them. Just figure out what you want to do. Stock, Body lift, or Rancho suspension lift. Do a lot of searches on this site. Weigh the pros and cons of each and figure out EXACTLY what you want to do before you plunge headlong into doing something you might regret. I personally like my body-lift and slightly cranked torsion-bars. This Fall, I plan on the Rancho 3-inch suspension also. You can get the Performance Accessories part # 60043 for 2000-02 Dakota from Summit Racing for less than $200 shipped. Most reputable garages will install it for $300 to $500.

Message: thanks for the input. I went ahead and just got the 285's. very minor trimming of the bumper and man are they nice. i also went with the Big O' Tires "BIGFOOT" all terrain. about 200 cheaper then the bfg alls and with a lifttime warranty- i couldnt go wrong. thanks for the input and i cant see spending about 2000 dollars for a 3 inch suspenion through rancho, all because rack and pinion. good luck with that. i like many others would love to see what it looks like. I think i could find many other acc and add ons worth 3000. talk to ya soon
