Subject: Brake Rotors Off Road
IP: Logged

Message:
I want to upgrade the rotors on my 2000 4x4 and was wondering if there are any problems with using slotted and or dimpled rotors on a truck that sees quite a bit of off roading. I searched the forums, but only found what seemed to be vague opinions. Can anyone set the record straight on this?

Thank you!

Thanks for the help!

Slotted rotors are a good mod, they will actually help clear mud and water out from under the pads. G for the slotted, not dimpled or drilled

I have the drilled and slotted rotors and I had the ceramic pads.

The rotors are great but you have to keep the clean. After a day in the mud or off road you should remove the tire and clean the center of the rotor of any mud or rock that have baked in there. I had to have the rotors turned once since they got clogged with mud and the purpose of the slots and holes were defeated. now I just make sure I clean them out after wheelin.

I have gone through 2 sets of ceramic pads and went back to the stock brake pads. The ceramics kept crackin.
