Message: Well, I have been dreaming about the Hanson Bumper for a while and saving some cash, but just the other day something bad and good happened.
Wife 1.0 T-Boned a mini-Van. No injuries, but the left front of the Dakota is mangled. Looks like the insurance company is just gonna give me a check, ssooooooooooooooooooooo.........
Hanson, here I come.
I haven't had much thought about a winch. I'm getting one, but not sure which.
Any recommendations for this bumper, pro's and con's???????????

Message: I use the Warn 9500 HS on my Hanson. They all work good though.
I found that you really dont want a cable that is over 100' long. You really dont want a cable any longer either.
I changed to a Amsteel Rope. It is safer and stronger than the cable.
A 5/16 cable is rated at 9300lbs or so the Amsteel rope 5/16 is rated at 13400 lbs.
If the cable snaps and the built up tension will cause re-coil and could take out anything in its path if it breaks.
The rope will not recoil if it snaps it will fall to the ground. It also comes with a protective sleeve if you are pulling over rocks or what ever it will protect the rope.
Granite the cable can be prevented from re coiling with a blanket laid over the cable incase it does snap.

Message: Thanks for the details. Actually, I have been looking a lot at your bumper photos and will ask mine to be built like yours with the flange above the rollers. Good idea for front collision protection of the rollers and additional hook points.
