Message: The only reason it is harder is because you have to lengthen the shifter. And you don't even really have to do that. I put the body lift on my 5-speed 97 Dakota. They send you a peice of metal to lengthen the shifter in the kit. However, all I did to mine was heat the entire stick with a torch and put a slight bend over the whole stick and it worked just fine.

Message: I had my shift lengthened and the friggin thing wouldnt go into second anymore. It hit the plastic retaing peice for the boot. So I just took that peice out and shoved the boot down further. So I guess in short I would say try bending the shifter before legnthing it.
