Subject: Rancho RS5000 Problem IP: Logged
Message: My truck is a 2001 QuadCab 4X4. Suspension is stock, tire handling and tow package. I replaced the shocks (RS5029 front and RS5248 rear). The shocks are correct per the Rancho application guide.
The problem is with the rear shocks, ride is ok however with litle to no weight in the bed (Tonneu cover and about 60 lbs of gear) and I go over a bump. When the springs cause the rear of the truck to move upwards the truck thunks. It appears as if the shocks are topping out. I suspect the piston and rod movement is to short (ie the shock reaches full extention before the spring movement is reversed.
Has anyone ever had this problem?
Thanks for the help in advance.

Message: I have the same truck, and installed the same shocks about 30,000 miles ago. I don't have that problem at all.

Message: I have re-evaluated my problem, I have gone to LT (Light Truck) tires at the same time and the stiffer sidewall combined with the stiffer shocks maybe the cause.
Out of curiousity has anyone else had a similar problem?
thanks
