Subject: High-Lift Jack Mounts inside? IP: Logged
Message: Has any one been able to mount their High Jack lift inside their cab? I was thinking behind the seat (I have regular cab) about a foot up or so.
If not what does every one else do with theirs as far as string it?

Message: Hi-Lift makes a bracket mount system that you could mount anywhwere. It was designed to mount in the bed of your truck. Like the Jeep bumper mounts you can lock it too. It mounts to the jack in two different positions. I'm sure you can install this in your cab. Check it out on Hi-Lift's web site.

If you mount it in the cab think about it very carefully. Make the attachment as strong as possible. A 40-pound piece of steel flying around inside the cab could be more than annoying.
Hi-Lift offers two different mount systems. One seems to be primarily for the front bumper on a Jeep. The other is to mount the jack in the bed of a pickup. You can put a padlock on either. And they offer a cover to keep the dust and muck out of the jack when it's stored.

Message: I thought about each, problem 1) I have line-x in my bed and I dont want to mess that up, plus I dont want to drill though the side of my truck... I assume it bolts on and the bed sides are not too thick, But Problem 2) in the cab i assume you would bolt it to the back, would you have to drill all the way through the cab... that doesnt sound fun.. Where does every one else stick theirs :) Lol

Message: I have Line-x in the bed of my truck too. I just installed a bed extender. It required drilling through the walls of the bed. It was no problem as long as you make a pilot hole 1st then drill the full size hole. The jack mount for trucks is the same. It will mount to the side of the bed or around the flange of the bed rail (that you can easily access both sides). The bracket has hefty bolts and washers for attachment so it won't shake loose. Just as I drilled the holes for the bed extender as you would with this fill the holes and bolt with some caulk and your'e fine against rust. As stated before you can also lock it down. It has two ways you can mount it to the flange. Go to www.hi-lift.com and check it out

Drilling holes in your truck only hurts the first time you do it :-) I drilled through the floor of the bed to mount a toolbox, which holds my air compressor. That hurt a little bit. Drilling a half-inch hole in the center of the roof for a cb antenna only hurt a little tiny bit after that. I used bathroon caulk on each hole as a rust preventative. Seems to be working.
I'd recommend mounting the jack in the bed. It will be easier to do and safer. Plus, you won't want to stow it back in the cab after you've used it and it's covered in muck so you would be more likely to just stick in in the bed, loose. That's not safe and defeats the purpose of having a mount in the first place.

Not too bad - a little drilling on the box, not the bed.

Message: Hey Jeff, I mounted mine to my toolbox as well. I put mine up on the front part of the box, kinda like Ogre's but up where his bike mounts are, or whatever those mounts are. I bought the locking kit, threw out thier lock though. I also bought the cover for it, to keep it clean.
