hey there Jason
I just bought a 98 dakota Ext. 5.2 v8 4x4.
no one seems to be able to answer this question for me! why dose my passenger side of my truck sit an inch lower than the driver side? I am replacing the shocks and I ajusted the torsion bar. What are the chances of having a lazy leif?

If you dont have a 3" lift in your truck dont go any bigger than a 33, anything bigger and you will have a few problems such as ball joints, tranny, brakes and problems with rubbing when taking corners. Even with the lift there will have to be some adjustments in the front end.

Im not sure about a canadian site! I'm from marmora ontario, how about you?

The front is a dana 35IFS and the rear is either an 8 1/4 or a 9 1/4 and should have a 3.55 ratio. Might be a 3.92 but I think those were only available in later years. You may also have LSD or not. Look on the rear axle tubes and you should see a tag which will tell you ratio and trac loc or not. After finding your gear ratio you can run 33's or 35's but the 35's would be kinda doggy. You also won't be able to fit any larger than a 32 without a lift (body or suspension)

You say the truck is sitting uneven. Is it the front or the rear? If it's the front, adjust your torsion bars if it's the rear it could be a number of things.

the gears are an option. the origional owner would have to order what gearing he wanted. they could be 3.21, 3.55, or 3.90 or maybe 3.92 like mine has. my brother has access to a chrysler dealer site that i can use to tell you everything that the truck came with from the factory, like maybe a 22 gal tank, tow package and things like that. so if you want, give me your VIN and i can tell you all this. Hey jason!

As lomg as you do the limit on the 401\qew ect. and slow it down reasonably on the on\off ramps you should be alright. I'm heading to toronto this weekend to see the monster trucks at the sky dome.

BIGTYMER
what number of things could cause my back passenger side to sag an inch? You would'nt happen to know the factory height by chance would you!
thanks for the info!

Why would you want a Canadian Forum for the Dakota? Isn't there more value in having greater participation in a forum that serves the US and Canada combined?

But maybe you just want to talk about back bacon and tucs. EH?

hey jay'
Try to go sunday! there is a couple of derby cars I helped build driving!(#39\#616)it is amazing what you learn building derby cars. If you ever get the chance to drive or build one, try it. Hell most girls my age cant check there own washer fluid let alone pick up a welding torche.

Where all have you looked in your area for tires and rims? One thing about the US web sites is you find some awesome parts for your truck and some nice guys that are willing to help out with any questions or problem you need help with. What all have you done to your truck so far?

hey
straight back is the way to go! I'm not sure if I can get one on the web or not. let me just say that it really beefs up the front end, you wont regret spending the money on it. the only pain in the butt is that they dont come painted! my truck is black so it wasn't to bad. If you parked under ground at sky dome you would have seen it in the hotel parking, (5 inch chrome plated bottom and I replaced the factory decals with indigo blue with chrome edges.I will see what I can do about a picture!
