I have a 92' dakota v6, i heard somewhere that there was a 4-wheel drive conversion kit out there. Hasa anyone heard of it and where? I'd also like a good lift kit, and tire recommendations:)

Your truck has a book value of around $3500 or so. If you could find a conversion kit, it would be at least $2500, maybe more depending on how fancy it is. In the end, your truck would not be worth $6000. So it's probably not a good economic choice.

Your best bet is to find a truck that is equipped the way you want it, and buy that. It's cheaper and easier.

If you're emotionally attached to that particular truck, then a conversion to 4x4 is not that hard. Find a wrecked truck that's mechanically sound and drag it home. Now you have all the parts you need. Just swap from one to the other.

Sorry a 2wd to 4wd
conversion won't work. As
the 2wd dakota has a rack
and pinion steering setup
and the 4wd has a steering
gear box and linkage
setup. Also the front
cross
member of a 2wd and 4wd
are different. Unless you
plan to cut the cross
member out of a 4x4 and
weld it into your truck.
Also the 2wd has coil
springs and the 4wd has
torsion bars again apples
and oranges the
mounts are different. This applies to 96 and older Dakotas

Chris is correct...the amount of time and labor involved is not worth it..and the 2wd/4wd trucks have completely different frames up front..
