Subject: Tires that work IP: Logged
Message: Hi fellow Dak owners.
Awhile back I posted some info on tires and promised to report back after some usage on the performance.
I have a 2001 QuadCab 4X4 stock suspension. I just installed a set of Rancho RS5000 shocks and new tires.
The tires are BF Goodrich Land Terrain LT265/70R16. These tires are made by BFG for Wal-Mart and carry a 50,000 mile warrenty.
Being a Light Truck tire they are heavy side wall (3 ply) and the tread is similar to the BFG AT/KO without the knobby edge.
I have had them for about a month with about 3,000 miles travel on them.
On road they are very good wet or dry. Offroad they are excellent.
I have driven the fire roads in the San Bernardino mountians, the desert trails and washes of the Black mountians and the rocky trails of the Cerbats in Arizona and they have worked great.
They even performed well in the slush and snow around the Flagstaff area.
For a daily driver and having some offroad security these tires are a good deal.
Hope this helps some of you if looking for a good tire and reasonable prices.

They cost $96 plus mounting and balancing, or about $107 each out the door.

Message: Lou:
If you have 15 inch rims:
31x10.5x15 equates to 267/76/15
If you have 16 inch rims:
31x10.5x16 equates to 267/71/16
265/75/16 equates to 32x10.43x16
The LT265/75R16 I have are actually 31.8 tall.
Based on my experience they should fit.
(tire calculations accomplished by the DML Tire and Wheel Calculator) http://www.dakota-truck.net/TIRECALC/tirecalc.html
Hope this helps
