Message: Boggers are the best in mud, but they are aweful on the road. There is absolutely not lateral traction unles you decide to groove the tires. LTB's, TSL's and TSL SX & SSR's are good all around and the TSL radials are slightly quieter on the road. I have heard or SSR's having belt problems and lugs flying off on the road. They are all good in the mud, but make sure you're in 4WD for the snow and wet road traction is horrbile.
All Swampers run a soft tire compound and do not wear well on the road. Only getting 15-20K miles is average. If you are going to be on the road quite a bit, take a look at the TruXus mud terrain. There is a lot of good feedback about them for wet/snowy roads and off-road on the mud and rocks.

Message: take 'em back, I didn't mention them because they are the worst tire on any terrain and biggest poser tire known to man.

Message: I wouldn't call your dirt driveway and the puddle at the end of it an "off-road trip with mud." Get 'em in some real snot and watch how they don't self-clean.

Message: I have to agree thornbirds are not great in mud. before you say how would I know I owned a set. they ended up going on my off road trailer.
they work great in sand, mild mid rocks things like that. overall theire fine for your average off road trip but if youre into mudding then they pack up and DONT self clean well at all. they do look way cool though.
I personally would leave them on if you do normal off road liek sand and stuff like that.
the swampers wear out way too fast. but then any mud designed tire will wear out faster than any all terrain. Ive had customers complain about the quick wear on swampers and they switch to a more mild mud tire like a BFG or Pro comp.
Ive had good luck with mud kings and believe it or not the wal mart brand of mud tire I think sport king MT is the name. heck a 35 is only 115$

Message: Budday bro im running 33x12.5s on stock rims ive also had 32x11.5 on there so 31s will fit just fine. I think the tire guy there was smoking the pipe. the only way I can see him saying that is if you have a 2 wheel drive then 31s will rub all over the place on a 4x4 its basically a stock size. BTW my 33s are on a STOCK height dakota no lift. I did some minor plastic inner well trimming
