I have questions concerning the whiplash 10 inch lift kit for a 2003 Dodge Dakota quad cab and the truckin suspension 6.5 inch lift.

Concerning Whiplash: I called them and they no longer make it. Any info to where I can find one and the quality of it?
Concerning Truckin Suspension: Most people say they are crap, why?? Explanation?

Denver,

I just finished putting the truckin Suspension 6.5" lift on my 2001 QC. Let me tell you, I wish I would have read all the posts before I undertook this project. It was a nightmare. Let me explain. The parts for the lift seem to be very solid and well made. The problem was installing the thing. First they never sent pictures or a set of instructions. After about 20 phone calls they faxed me a set of instructions. However, they where incomplete and after putting the lift on, they must have been for an older lift. None of the insturctions matched up. The other problem was, every drilled hole seamed to be 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch off. You better be in good shape to push and pry all the pieces together. The lift was supposed to take a well equiped shop 12 hours to complete. I used a well equipment shop with a friend of mine and it took us 46 hours of labor. There was a lot of fabricating involved. I could type all day about the things that went wrong. In the end, the lift is solid and it looks very sanitary. The company is horrible, their customer service was non-existant, and you better know what you are doing to put the thing together.

There is no ? in my mind what suspension lift should I pick for my 01 Dak 4wd. RANCHO! I will
just have to accept the fact that it's only a 3 inch, but that will save a lot of people a lot of
headaches. The only thing I don't like about it is that it uses blocks for the rear lift. Of course, a lot of their lifts use rear blocks, but I'm gonna go with add-a-leafs and a couple of pinion shims. It would have been nicer if mother Mopar had put a Dana 44 in the front of a Dakota. Not even Truckin' Suspension could mess up a lift for that.

Well for any of you that have seen my posts on my recently installed 6.5 in Truckin lift you will see that I "Was" very happy with the results. I own a performance accessorie shop and do pro installs. So they say a well equipped shop will take about 12 hrs to install it. Well like Sandman said, not quite......It took about 40 hrs to install it and yes there was a lot of prying and pulling, as there is with a lot of I.F.S. kits. And yes the instructions and tech support suck. Now to my real point, I have 160 miles on my truck after the lift, and the 3rd member brackets have broke, one on the right side of the axle housing and the other broke away from the transmission. So what did I do you might ask? I called truckin tech support and spent about 45 mins on hold before actually talking to a human. And What have they told me, you ask. Well they say that their kit shouldn't have caused the problem, but they will look into it. What did I say you ask? Well, the kit did cause the problem and they need to figure out how to resolve the issue. So I will keep you posted as to the result. UNTILL THEN, I WOULD HAVE TO SAY, STAY AWAY FROM THIS LIFT!!!!!!

If any of you have any questions or know of anyone who has had a similar problem, send me a email to autojosh@earthlink.net

Hi I can't seem to find a 5" suspension lift kit. I live in Hawaii and the few places I've called told me that no one makes suspension lift kits for my 2003 dakota QC. Have any ideas where I can order it and will be able to have it shipped to hawaii?? Thanks

Well I was looking around on different sites, and came across this one. People were skeptical about the whiplash lift kit. There was even a person that said something along the lines of a month after you have the lift, your truck will break. Well I have a 2000 chevrolet 1500, with 38in super swamper TSL's. I have had the lift on the truck for 3 years. I have had one problem with the truck since then, I had to replace my inner tie rods, and the streering arm that was fabricated from whiplash stripped out. I called the company, and they had me send the steering arm back, and they, made me another one, and sent it back for free. All their parts have a lifetime warranty. Well if you have any questions, or requests for pics, feel free to contact me.

Just because you got lucky doesn't mean it's a quality product. First off, your in the minority because if your search, you'll find far many more complaints than praises. Second, there is a difference between the Chevy 1500 and a Dakota. From what I've seen on this and other forums, one common complaint was with front drive-line angles with the Dakota application. Another complaint was with the complete inability to keep the front end aligned after installing the lift.
Yet another common complaint was with the poor quality of the kit, parts were breaking and you yourself had a similar problem.

i have a 93 chevy stepside, i purchased one of these ts 9" lifts. had no problems putting it on, it took me and a friend a day in a half. its been on my truck since 2002 and i havent had any problems with stuff breaking(and i put it through hell and back). i must admit though, the customer service did suck. but over all if you know what your doing in regards to installing the lift you shouldnt have any problems. just go over your pars first before you take your every day driver apart.
