If the shackles do 2 inches, I'll probably just use them without the blocks and raise the front with the torsion bars. 2 inches in the back and the 1 1/2 up front should be plenty.

If the stock shocks will work, that would be great. Nost of the movement seems to be the sudden drop down when going over and down big dips, etc. So the extra travel down will help and the reduced travel up may not hinder enough to be noticable.

Thanks for the help. I've never raised my OWN vehicles. Just other peoples. Since it's my OWN. I don't want it screwed up LOL!

GraphiteDak,
One of the best mods that I have done was switching to to a good shock.
I love my Rancho 9000's! So much better on any kind of bumpy road and it also helps cornering.
I have a "test" corner that I could only run at 35 mph stock. 50 mph with shocks, and 55mph with adition of hotchis sway bars.
You don't have to spend a bunch on shocks either.
I started with the Rancho 5000's and have recomended them to other Dak owners in my area.
They love them as well. I may have an extra set of 5000's for the rear if interested.
I know you are on a budget but from this thread I would suggest the shackles as well, and definetly get an alignment.
just save up a couple months and do it right.
you will be glad in the long run.

Also a little pricy, but 4:10 rearend kicks @ss!

good luck.

Oh definitely! (do I want to do it right)

My bro in laws both jacked up their 2WD trucks! One a Chevy and one Dodge!
Both about 6 inches and with big tires.

I call it RICE!

The older of the two recently got himself a real 4X4. An '86 Dodge Ram RC with a 360. Now he has a reason to be lifted... finally!

I just want mine SLIGHTLY lifted because I want to still corner GOOD on the highway and I just need a little extra clearance and reduced DIPPING when I go over a bump.

I was off road tonight and bottomed out a few times in sand/dirt.

Had to pull out the younger bro in laws jacked up 2WD Dodge RAM twice!

I also prefer cornering over all out lift.
I think I am going to start with just the torsions.
I would rather have the truck sit level anyway.
I have had my truck high centered...sat right on the frame all 4 wheels barely touching the ground.
coudn't open the doors. I think the extra 3 inches of lift may have helped but I would rather stay on the dirt and go fast.
let me know how the block or shackle goes. I will post my results after torsion adjust and alignment.

good luck.

Over the holliday, I raised my tortions 7 full turns each, raised about 2", replaced tires with dueler revo's (275/75/16) and had the tire shop do an alignment.
They told me the passenger side tortion was turned in more than the driver side.
adjusted and adjusted front end for alignment.
I wasn't way out but the camber was definatly there.
I would recomend anyone adjusting the torsion bars get an alighment.
good luck.

Good timing. I haven't checked these threads in a month!

No, I haven't done mine yet, but i want to.
These cracker a$$ shops in Pheonix don't seem to stock what I want. You have to ORDER it.
All the regular auto stores stock their shelves with RICER sh*t so no luck there either!

Anyway. Instead of buying the shackles, I ordered the HO cams for my 4.7 they should be here anyday now, it's been about 2 weeks.

You can always shoot me a email with the email I registered with. I'd like to see your pics when you get it lifted.

KRC performance. It's the 200 cams. They add good all around power without losing low end grunt. Definitely worth it from what I have heard.

They said I should receive them soon. I can't wait.

Hey MightyQuynh, did you get your parts yet?

This week I went the cheap route to lift my truck 2 inches. Used blocks on the rear and cranked the torsions. It was too dark to take photos so they will come later.
My cams STILL didn't come this week. I am next on the list for the next batch I hear. Bummer.
So I wont have the HO cams in before I go to the Dunes again this weekend but I'll be 2 inches higher. The front end stiffened up with the torsion lift which is what i wanted to help reduce it from bottoming out over bumpy off roads.

Well I lifted it about 2 inches. I used 2 inch blocks in the rear (cheap!) and cranked the torsion bars up front. Still haave the stock shocks on the truck.

It turned out as good or better than I hoped. The lift isn;t all that much compared to what people lift their trucks to, but it is functional for me. The front end which was dipping down after a good bump to the point where it bottomed out now is stiffer and when i go over bumps kind of fast it doesn't dip hardly at all. On the highway it seems just as smooth. I actually like it better. I haven't even got around to aligning it yet. I took a trip to the dunes last weekend and while pulling my 12 foot trailer with 3 quads the truck actually seemded to track the road BETTER now. Steers like a Cadillac! I forgot to keep taking pictures of it so there's none up yet. I took a few. I'll take soem more when I get a chance for you.

Hey Marco, a good way is add a leaf, you can get from 4wheelparts for $60, the leaf is from fabtech, cant remember the part # but its for the 2wheeldrive but will work fine with the 4x4 rear suspension. alot easier than flipping shackles, i found out the hard way lol. hope this helps
fabtechmotorsports.com
i think the part # is fst201 or something close.
you will need to order over the phone with 4wheelparts because its not on the website.

An even easier (but more expensive) way to do it would be the Roadmaster active suspension. It also won't give you quite as harsh a ride. There's a pretty good description of how it works on their web site.
