I am looking at purchasing a set of Goodyear Wrangler MT/R's for my 2000 Dakota Sport 4x4. I have the 15" rims with the 31x10.5 wranglers on it now. Will 32x11.5 fit without much issue? I figure I can expect some slight rubbing at full turn, but what other problems might I have? I know there has been several discussion about tires size, but I want to be sure before I drop a fair amount of the tires.

The lugs on the tire may cause some damage when the tire stuffs up into the wheel well. The more aggressive tread will eat fender linings and other plastic parts.

Unless you're going to be rock crawling, don't waste your money on MTR's. They are horrible in the mud and on wet roads, plus the soft compound wears poorly. Get them siped and wet traction will improve.

On stock rims 32x11.5x15 MT's work nice. You may need to trim a little. You will need to turn your Torsion bars a little.

My buddy runs the 32x11.5x15 MT's on AE589's and he gets some rub due to the BS of the AE's, trimming fixed most of it.

Also 285x75x16 work good on stock 4x4 suspension with the same trimming and TB turning very minor.

Never late for a Tee time or wheelin with my buddies! Always ready for both!!!

I personally think the MT/Rs are awesome I've run them side by side with other trucks runnign BFGs and baja belted and have had no problems. They run great on the rocks, mud and great in the snow. Although be prepared they are VERY loud on the highway.

I would have to agree that MTR's are one bad a$$ tire....I love them...but I do have to disagree about the noise...they are louder than your normal radial 4x4 tire....but compared to all the other off-road traction tires...these are really quiet...the have a bit of a hummmm but not bad at all....besides you don't even notice it after a few days of driving with them

I have a set of 32" MT/R's on 15x 7 rims, with 3'
suspension lift, and they are awesome. They work very
well in the mud , snow, and wet pavement. Mine hardly
make any noise at all on the highway. After 5000km's,
they are wearing fine. If you can afford them, then I
would highly reccomend them, if not, then I'm sure Bfg's
will suit you just fine. You can't buy any mud tire, and
expect it to be as quiet as the stock tires, just learn to
love it!!

I buy peterson's 4 wheel & off road mag occassionlly. They have nothing but good stuff to say about these tires. In their tests, they even did great on wet and on snow covered pavement, despite that they were based on a Mud tire heritage. The only bad thing they had to report was tire wear. But they aren't the worst in this catagory, so I wouldn't worry much about that.

Oh yeah, they are kind of pricy. Of course most all good tires are expensive, though.

The Feb issue of Petersens just did a mud tire test.

6 Mud tires were compared. BFG MT, Goodyear MTR, Mickey Thomson Baja Claw, Pro Comp X-Terrain, Super Swamper TrXus, and Super Swamper TSL

The MTRs scored first in the looks department, 3rd in the noise dept (comment was "louder than you would expect") and they scored a distant 5th place in the distance test.

mud pit distances:
TSL 59'
Baja Claw 57'
MT 46'
TrXus 44'
MTR 25'
X-Terrain 18'

Conclusion: MTR's are great looking tires and in all past reports score well in the rock crawling area (tough sidewalls). Not too good in the mud though.

Sencillamente superior. Caracas-Venezuela

yup, just ordered my Goodyear Wrangler size 235/75/R15 for my stock 97 Jeep Wrangler. got em from wal mart.com They will ship to your closest wal mart store. This will be my first mud tire purchase ever. I'm going to have them rotated every 2,500 miles. The wear shouldn't be that bad if I keep to this rotating schedule. My Jeep doesn't weigh as much as a big lifted rig, and the tire size is small so maybe this will make a difference in tire wear.
