Subject: Tuff Country 5.5" Lift IP: Logged
Message: I am buying the Tuff Country Lift for my 98 Dakota and I have heard of people fitting 35s on. I was wondering if anyone could give me some information about how it performs offroad. Is there a lot of hit & rubbing? Is there some mods that could be done? I would appreicate any info.
Thanks,
Matt

My friend has the TC with a 3in body and fits 35's. Only really ben wheeling a couple time s, i seems to do fine, and he doesn't complain about it. He thinks he could fit 36's maybe 37's under it.

Message: The bad thing about the TC lift is the lower "droop" stops on the lower, rear control arm bracket. Those things are basically rock counters. Cut them off and add limiting straps before you bend the snot out of them and the rest of that bracket. Trust me on this one...
Also, I'm running 33's on stock wheels on mine and had a great outing this last weekend. The tires rub the frame a little at full lock but not enough to worry about it. Overall, the lift made a tremendous difference in the trucks offroad performance.

I also kept the stock wheels (look good, clean with a hose, no rusting and no polishing needed). Get some aftermarkets with aggressive backspacing and I have no doubt you could squeeze 35's in there.
I'll bet a Dak on a set of 35X15X15 Fun Countrys would look pretty awesome...
