Subject: Front Skid plate IP: Logged
Message: I just bought factory skid plates for my 99 4x4 Dak. The gas tank and transfer case plates went up just fine. But the front diff plate does not have a mounting point at the back. I have the front bolted to the frame but I dont see anything to bolt to on the back. Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions?
Thank you much for any help.

Message: i think you may be missing something. I know that the earlier dakotas required a crossmember for the front skid plate, but should have come with it. on the later ones 2000ish, the front plate bolts to the transmission crossmember along with the transfer case plate. i had to drill one hole on my 2002. it could be possible you got the wrong front plate, or your missing the crossmemeber.

Message: yep, your right, I just talked to the Dealership and they said that this extra crossmember that bolts to the frame is only installed when the truck is ordered with the skidplates. So since mine wasnt originally ordered with plates I have to buy that crossmember.
