How hard would it be to drop in a transfer case and front drive axle to make a 4x2 into a 4x4? How much of the suspension would have to change?

Everyone I have heard discuss this subject says to trade the 2wd in for a 4wd. Several magazines get the question all the time, and that is the answer they always give.
