Message: I have a few questions regarrding tires before and after a bodylift.
i have a 2001 QC 4wd.
I need new tires and i am thinking about getting a bodylift in the next few months.
Using my stock rims and no cranking on the torsion bars, what is the bigest tire i can fit without alot of rubbing that will still look good after a 2" body lift and have no rubbing?
After you put larger tires on could i take to an off-road shop to have my speedo recalibrated?
Any replies would be great.

Message: None, because there is no 2" body lift for your truck. ;-)

Message: Hi Mason,
Sorry that you get the above kind of replies. This board is generally very helpful when the requests are legitimate.
I have a 01 QC as well and did way too much research and overanalyzed what to do.
1. If you search the board, you will get a ton of info regarding tire size and body lifts. All the info you need is already here. The only thing missing is your subjective idea of what you want your truck to look like. For example:
do you want your truck to look stock, but want to wheel.
do you want your truck to look real tall, but don't wheel.
Do you want you truck to look unique
etc.
This is what I did and what I think after I did it;
As I said, I've got an 01 QC (5.9, P/T TXFR, 3.92 Posi, Airaid, 180, 3923's) - Basic DIY mods.
I got a great deal on a Rancho 3 inch suspension lift. (It's actually about a 2 inch lift read the boards and you know why).
I went with Rancho RSX and kept my stock rims. I put on a set of Bridgestone AT Revos, size 285-75-16 in stock rims. No rub anywhere, but I had to trim some plastic on the driver's side front.
To compensate for the larger diameter tires (APPROX 33 vs 30.6), I used a superchips programmer which also re-cals the speedo!)
The results; I think the ride is great, the same if not better (due to the RSX's) ride. The torsion bars are not cranked past stock. The truck looks stock, it really doesn't look very tall. This is only my opinion, but I think the main reason is that I've kept the stock 16 inch rims. Again, in my opinion, my truck is not high enough. I am considering going with aftermarket rims like ARE Pythons or Breakers, cranking the bars and doing an add-a-leaf. The tradeoff is increased stress, wear and tear. Like I said, I really like the ride now and I think that doing the addional mods will screw with the ride. The truck is sized right in terms of length and weight, but those 3/4 ton, big block Avalanches with a 6 inch Rancho look pretty cool.
Anyway, I hope that this helps.

Message: Thanks for the reply matdie.
I do wheel and just do not have the money for a suspension upgrade.
I want to be able to fit a larger tire for both a more aggresive look and larger tire footprint for snow and mud.
I know there are tons of threads about tire sizes and lifts but as you mentioned alot of people over-analize the tire sizing and i think there should be an easy answer but i couldnt really find it anywhere.

Message: Mason, I wasn't trying to be a jerk. I really try to be as helpful as possible on this board. I just answered your question with your restrictions. If you are willing to go with a 3 inch body lift and still do not want to trim, 32's are your max. 33's require "some trimming" according to Hawkeye.
When I put on larger tires, I checked my speedometer with one of those radars that shows you your speed on the side of the highway. It was actually dead on. Mayber Dodge is trying to shorten our warranty period by setting the speedometer higher than you are actually going.*
*my own opinion; I have no more evidence than that. ;-)

Message: DKR
I just got back from 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers and you were right, there is only a 3" body lift available.
I think i will just go with 31" tires and not deal with the bodylift now.
They mentioned that i would have a to do alittle trimming to fit these new tires.
Anybody have any pros or cons with Pro Comp all terrains?

Message: Mason, go for the 3" body lift from 4 wheel parts and put it on yourself, with a friends help. Get 33" or 285/75 tires (GY MT/R, MT Baja Claw radial, BF MT, Pro Comp X-terrains to name a few) The truck will look great and you won't have any regrets trust me, well except for the little loss in gas mileage, but then again we wouldn't be driving these trucks if we were worried about gas.
Body lift $230-280
Tires (Depends but TireRack has 33" MT/R's for $152 a piece.) So for under a grand you can get a lift and nice new bigger tires
