The campers are at pole 6, which would be almost be at the end of the camping area now due to the closure of more beach. this is the meeting area since most are already there tonight.

Message: Pismo beach is in Central Ca coast line. It is actually called Oceano Dunes.
Here is a link to it:

Detailed map of the dune area:
http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=1208
If you notice on the second map Pier ave is where you enter the yellow area is No ride no camp area after that the white area is the dune area.
The Sierra clubs have been slowly getting more and more of this area closed down. Infact the numbers down the map are the pole numbers about a half mile apart and camping / riding from pole 2 to 6 the immediate beach past pole 6 is closed now as of July 1 2003. Snowy plover birds nest there and they are protected for nesting. the dune area just behind the beach area is open for riding.
It is still a large riding / wheelin area and plenty of room for all. I think the camping limit is 1000. It is a very cool area if you ever get a chance to go. Cost $4 to get in.
Sorry for the education lesson but it is a great place to visit if you love the beach and off roading. Even if you do not care for the beach the dunes are worth it.

Message: LOL a long drive from Oregon to. I live right on the largest section of Oregon Dunes, near North Bend. I love rippin the dunes and playin on the beach. We have a huge section of beach blocked now for snow plovers to. They found like a whole 6 of them there last year.......grrrr dumb birds. The funny thing is there are no counts of how many birds there ever used to be. I mean maybe there were only a few of them around all the time. it's not like they used to be every where.
