Subject: Suspension lift for 1992? IP: Logged
Message: I'm looking for a suspension lift for a 1992 4x4 Extended Cab Dakota with a 5.2L V-8.
So far all I have found is a 4" kit made by Trailmaster. This kit would work for me, but the price is outrageous for only 4 inches. Are there any other options out there?
Thanks.

Message: there are NO other lifts available. The price DOES suck.I think its a bit too high.I actually sent a nice letter to Trailmaster about the "high" price, basically they said they were surprised because they don't get many complaints about the price.Ya, no s**t,thats because no one is buying it!!!I told them if they dropped the price to something reasonable, more people WOULD buy it.

Message: That's what I feared. Thanks for the info. If they would lower the price I think they would get alot more sales. We should get some more people together and check into a group rate.
I guess it'll stay on the 33 x 12.50s for now. I already bought a 3" body lift from Trailmaster. They should give me a repeat customer discount. LOL.

Message: I'll see if I can get my buddy to take some while we're at the beach this weekend. Not sure if any of you are from South Texas, but we've got the Padre Island National Seashore. 63 continuous miles of beach, 59 miles are 4-wheel drive only.

Message: Hi I just bought the same truck and was thinking of putting 33inch tires on and changes to be made to make them fit?

Message: All I've done to make mine fit the 33's is: added a 3" Trailmaster body lift (lifted 3" all around), had the front torsion bars cranked up as high as possible while keeping the alignment right (lifted 1 3/4" in front), and trimmed out the rear corner of the front fenders.
If you've got the same engine I do (a 318 V-8) you might run into a major problem with the body lift...the fan does not clear the lower radiator hose once the lift is installed. If it does clear it's only by a few millimeters and when you torque up the engine it'll shift and cut the hose. All we did to get around this was trimmed about 3/4 to 1" off each of the fan blades. You could also add an electric fan if you want.
The only other problem I had with the kit was...the transfer case shift knob extender did not match the threads on my truck. I had an extender custom built.
Good Luck,
Zeplin
