Message: Has anyone had any problems running 15's on the 02. I asked my local tire shop and they said it wouldnt work cause Dodge switched the brakes on the dakota in the middle of the 02 production year and the rims would be to small. Sounds kinda funny to me but im just trying to make sure before I spend that much money.

Message: I don't know what kind of Dakota you have but on my 2002 Dakota SXT 4X4 in am currently using 15X8 wheels. Part of the brake caliper misses the inside of the rim by by 1/32'nd of an inch. I had to put the stick on wheel weights as close to the inside of the wheel as possible or they would have been hitting the caliper. What ever 15" wheels you choose just may hit the calipers. Make sure you fit them on the truck before you mount new tires on them. I am using 15X8 Ultra 50-51 wheels with 5" backspacing and 32X11.5R15 Dunlop Radial Mud Rovers. It looks great and I do not get rubbing.

Message: I was looking to use the E/A 589's and go with the 15x8's. I have the exact same truck, the SXT 4x4. ive read on certian threads about troubles with them on the 02 and the other threads say they work just fine. just trying to get some clarification. i was hoping to find someone with that setup, but thanks for the help. i think i might just buy one rim and se how it works.

Message: I am glad I could be of a little help and offer my experience. Even if the AE 589 fots over the calipers it is far from geing the proper wheel for the Dakota. It has the wrong offset and not enough backspace. The tires will stick way outside the fenderwells and they will scrape the front bumper.
