Message: I have a 2000 4x4 with R/T wheels. It has a set of 275/60/17. These tires are 29.5 inchs tall. My truck sits about 1 inch lower in the front then they rear. I have not turned up the bars. I am going to get a larger tire. They are to small they do not fill up the wells. I think Pro-comp makes a 31x10.5x17 that would work. I am going to get a PA lift and put a set of 33x12.5x17 on it this summer. I can post some pics if you would like

Message: Well there are a couple of reasons. I think that a 17 inch wheel with a set of 33 looks alot better then a 15 with a set of 33. The ride is alot smoother because a larger wheel with less tire is lighter, less "sprung weight". If I was a hardcore off roader I might run a 15 inch tire to have more flex in the side wall but my truck hardly ever goes off road. Plus if all dakota's had 15 inch tires with 33's on them would the world be boring.

Message: then why didn't you just get an H2, you fag......don't waste a perfectly good 4x4 on 17" rims, and why did you even buy a 4x4 if you never take it in the dirt? incase you need to make it over that steep curb in the parking lot at the mall......what a retard

BTW...if you haven`t noticed almost all full size 4X4s have 17s stock anymore , the RAMS have 20s. Everyday there are more off-road tires available for the bigger rims.
Oh yea , not everyone who has a 4X4 has to trash it off-road , I happen to like the looks of a tall truck and have a lot of $$ invested in mine and I choose to keep mine clean most of the time...and that includes my 18 in wheels and Nitto Terra Grappler tires thanks for your useless opinon though.

Diffrent strokes for different folks... BTW... H2s cost too much for what I wanna do with my truck. :)

Message: URAJERK you idiot, we're talking about a Dakota here, not a FULL SIZE RAM 3500!! Of course rims would be bigger on that.
Whats next after the 18" rims and Nitto tires, a roll pan and body kit??? HAHAHA

Message: 17" wheels on a 4x4 Dak? Wow what a stretch...? Those 17's will handle great. I've got 17's on my 4x4 Durango. Good enough for the girls I go out with. I mean, Fred's mom sucked me off in my Durango last night while jammin to some Burt Bacharach. She told me she wanted me to be Fred's new daddy but I just couldn't handle having a son with a 15" wheels and a 2" dick. Yea, I tossed that bitch out on the curb.

Message: Hey Fred , You can get the 20s on the 1500 RAMS not the 3500s you jackass...and seeing how a Dakota is a MID-size truck I think the 18s look right at home on them.
Try opening your mind instead of your mouth once in a while
Oh yea , no bodykit or roll pan for me , just a good looking and performing Dakota!!!

URAJERK, if you want to be laughed at that's your choice!!!
Why don't you post a pic of your Dak 4x4 on 18s? I need to see this!! Or are you going to come up with some lame excuse as to why you can't post one? If you need help I'll slowly guide you thru the steps from taking the picture to posting it on the board.

Message: I have 35x12.50-17's on my lifted 01 Dak and 31x10.50-18's on my 02 Dak. My 01 sees some off-roading with the stock wheels and 33" mudders since the 35's just don't allow clear articulation. During the winter, the 02 gets my wife up and down our 400ft driveway through 3 foot snow drifts safely with the stock wheels and 32" snow tires.
I haven't had one person tell me they aren't two of the best looking Dak's they have ever seen and they are both extremely practical for daily driving as well as off the pavement if needed. Everyone has their own tastes and some just like 15" wheels, that's cool too.
I'd be happy to email you a recent pic of them both together for posting here since my yahoo photo album never works due to their stupid security!

Thanks but no thanks for your help though , it was very thoughtful of you.
I must have you all wrong....yea right!
As far as being laughed at...
I`ve not had one single person tell me my truck wasn`t bad a$$ , and with all the looks I get driving it , it must look pretty good!
I couldn`t agree more with 2thextrm , and he does have two great looking Daks.
If everyone had your logic , we`d all be running around on 14 in wheels and tires.
Like I said before , try opening your mind instead of your mouth.

Message: hey 2thextrm, i was just reading and i would like to see pics of your dakota, i have a 02 durango rt, i have a 4" lift and a 2" body lift on it, right now it sits really nice, right where i want it, i went with some 285/70/17 bfg ats on the stock chrome rt rims, i love the way it looks i want to go bigger, the tires actually look a bit small for all the space thats there, i would like to know if 315/70/17 will fit without any rubbing or should i go with 305/70/17

You are probably going to have to trim sheet metal to fit the 315's. With my torsion bars cranked and extra rear block lift my dak was pushing 7 measured inches over stock and I had to trim inner fender liner quite a bit to have little rubbing with articulation on agressive tread 315's and little wheel offset.
I recommend 305's to keep it a dependable driver that you don't have to chop up!
Give me your email address and I can shoot you some pics if you like.
