I went thru some big ass mud puddles today with my 99 4x4 5.2 and got my truck covered in mud every square inch. I took it to the all u can wash car wash and got most of it off the body wheel wells etc. I think i got most of it off the under body but ant 100% sure. We'll to get to the point I opened my hood about an hour after i washed it and all I said was f*** lol. My entire engine compartment was covered in mud. I was wondering how I would go about cleaning it. What will hurt the engine etc under the hood. I also got my damn instillation covered. Is there anything i could buy to stop this plzzzz help.

any time that I have driven through mud 'n crud I just left the engine running sprayed the engine compartment down with simple green (or your prefered cleaner/degreaser) and a gentle rinse from the hose. Try not to hit the fire wall to much and avoid the distributer cap, but other than that you should be ok. To my knowledge there is nothing you can do to stop mud from getting inside your engine area (well you could just drive it on the street, but there is no fun in that). Good luck

You could always buy (or failing that) make some kind of pan that covers underneath the front of your truck. It makes it a bitch to work on the underneath cause you would have to drop the pan everytime...but it would keep the mud out and improve aerodynamics to boot!

Just my 2 cents...
