Hey all,
Thinking about taking a dana 30 out of a YJ and getting all the leaf hardware to make a solid axle front end.
Heres my reasons.... same transfer case np231, some jeeps came from the factory with 8.25 rear and the dana 30 has 5 on 4.5 lugs to match my 87 dak and the spring purches should be pretty simple and its the same steering pump also.
Will the dana 30 hold up under my heavier dak I only plan to run 31x11.5x15 super swamper LTB's.
I have a 87 dak with the np207 (same case as 231) and its a regular cab shourtbed with 3.9.
Thanks for any input.

I think you will be fine with that size tire. I ran 33's on my xj locked in the front. Beat the piss out of it and never had a problem.Take some pics

Too narrow and too weak. You need at least a Dana 44. Look for an old ford pickup or Bronco.

Find a wrecked full size jeep wagoneer or a F150. You can probably use your stock spring pockets to mount a ford coil suspension. i think the 79 fords came with straight axle coil spring front suspension. it was either 79 or 78 mabey both.

I mean check the current issue of four wheeler mag(august) for verification that this can be done and what parts you need. Just grab it off the newsrack flip open to page 92 and look for item #5- IFS no more, don't buy it, just take a look.
