Subject: How does this sound? IP: Logged
Message: K i got a 97 dak 4x4 with the 5.2. its a club cab. i was thinking of giving it a 3 inch body lift, putting on 33x11.5 thornbirds on 15x8 american racing black steel wheels. then a magna flow dual exhaust system split after the muffler. how hard would it be to do this stuff? would i have to do alot of trimming? how would the trucks road manners be like after this? would 3 hour highway trips be an anooying torture of humming of the tires? would this look and sound good? the truck is black, so black steel wheels should look bad ass, what do you guys think?

Message: i believe the 97 is the new body style or did that start in 98. if it is the new body style then the body lift will look great with your truck. Other guys have had to do minor trimming with 33x12.50, but i didn't have to do any. I've got american eagle alloys with 5.5 bs, which is why i didn't do any trimming. At most, if you go with the 12.50 which i would suggest, you would have to do minor trimming to the lower corner of the front bumper and minor to the black plastic inner fender well. thornbirds are going to be loud as $h!t. Exhaust, i'm a die hard flowmaster fan, i've got a 40 series muffler on my 02 4.7 with two outlets which turn down right past the rear axle and it sounds mean. the body lift is fairly simple to put on with a few small snags here and there but if your mechanically inclined it shouldn't be anything you can't work with. as soon as i get use of my buddies digital camera, i'll send you pics of mine, it's a 02 slt club cab 4x4 3in body 33x12.50.15 bfg at. hope i helped.

Message: yea that helps alots, im considering changing those thornbirds to uniroyal mts, and the exhaust to flowmaster duals. im also gonna tint the front to windows to match the rears, and put in a billet aluminum grill to replace the stock black plastic one. then some type of eurolights with LED lights. and if i have any money left a nice aluminum tool box. what do u guys think?

Message: i've the steel horse billet grille and it really sets off the front end of the truck. Add that in with a set of clear corners up front and it looks mean. I'm also looking at replacing my stock foglights with some sort of replacement like that so let me know how that turns out. Now, are you talking about getting true duals put on or just a muffler with one in and two outlets???

Message: no not going to do true duals, just have it split after the muffler. what is the 5.5 back spacing you are refering to on ur truck, whats this do, what is it? what other small cosmetic things do u have on ur truck? do u know if platinum gauges, the ones that are white in the day and black at night with blue or green lights. are they worth their cost? are they hard to install?

Message: the backspacing is a spec on the rim you buy. there's a good post in this forum where someone was asking what is backspacing. Cosmetically, the clear corners, billet grille, and tinted windows are all i have. I have the lift and bigger tires. I don't know to much about the gauges, but the one your talking about is only a sheet. You pull the plastic off from in front of your gauges, remove the needles and the lay down the different color template and replace it all. i would not suggest doing it yourself if your not sure of what your doing cuz you can screw up your gauges very quickly . But those shouldn't be to expensive. the dealership should be able to install that for you.
