Subject: Gears?? IP: Logged
Message: Im planning on putting on a 6.5 inch suspension lift to my 99 dakota slt with a 5.2L V-8 and with 35x15 inch swampers. Do i need to regear it? would it be better for my engine if i did? how much would it cost and what gears should i get?

Message: whats up?
I put the 6.5in lift on my truck and as far as putting new gears in it i dont think you'd have to because the difference in power isnt very much but you'll notice.I personally am going to put 4.10 in as soon as they become available for the front rear, now I dont know if your truck is 4x4 but if it is the gears for the front end should be available by the end of the month.refer to the group buy section we have a pretty good amount of people getting in on this with the front and the rear ring and pinions its going to end up costing about $550 for the gears and the kits to install you should check it out if you enjoy the power.
Oh and also if your going with the truckin suspension 6.5 end you do go for the 35's ther may rub if your rims are over a 15x8 i am dealing with this problem right now i went ahead and ordered a 3in PA body lift, which i have not yet installed,if you have any more questions just post ill get back to you

Message: 35"-37" are rated for 4:56 gears, with this set up you will still have good acceleration and still have good top end. If you go any lower of a gear you will be turning about 3500 to 4000 RPMS at 75-80 MPH
