Message: For those who are interested here is how DJ (RESQready) installed the MOOG's for the 99's on my 2000 club cab. He started at 9 am and was out the door by 1200. We even had to go to the auto store for the grade 8 3/8" bolts set and some grinding pads! I taped the whole thing. I want to point out a few things not in the video that may be important to know:
Use a vice or something to hold the new ball joints so you can drill the holes out to 3/8". We did not do this that is why you do not see it, DJ held them in his hand and still has all his fingers!
Make note of the orientation of the cotter pin hole so you can put the cotter pin in the hole and secure it. If not the spindle may be in your way. My spindles are different since I have the lift so DJ put them in right but not for my install so we had to loosen one side reposition and move on.
Make sure you put a floor jack under the lower control arm ball joint so you dont not get kick back fron the torsion bar tension when removing the ball joint.
Only the tire was removed. everything else other than the upper ball joint stayed on.
We painted the area once the ball joint was removed with some epoxy quick dry black paint.
Please note the condition differnce at the end of the video between the ball joints left and right.
If you are on dial up sorry for the wait!!!

I notice a difference in the front handling right away. It was tighter, steering and all.

Message: Good job guys! It always feels better to do it your self. The MOOGs should last longer than the stock ball joints. I put MOOGs in mine several months ago, just after the 33's.

Message: Very nice! I would go with 'grade C' 3/8 locknuts on the grade 8 bolts- you definitely don't want them loosening up on you.

Message: Great job guys!
I'll need to do this soon.
Hey Chris, the shocks are on and they are great. They are stiffer than I expected even when set at "1". It's a lot more controlled than the originals though.

I think the Off road setting of 5 is great off road.
I though setting 1 was kind of bouncy!

Message: We are actually looking into this. I know some around here have done both but the lowers are pressed in I think and more difficult.

Message: my brother-in-law did my lower ball joints, and it took
him about 1 hour per side. they are pressed in, but he
has this fancy snap-on ball joint puller/press that you
use on a impact. worked excellent!! of course he's a
mechanic, but i helped him, and it wasn't that hard. best
advice i can offer is use the right tools.

Message: I have a 2000 2x4 quad cab 4.7.. It has a worn upper ball joint. Cant find the joint by itself at any part store. The dealer only sells the whole control arm with the joint already in it. $255. Will the 1999 Moog Joint work properly in my vehicle?
Thanks, Kevin

Message: Hmm. Why did you have to buy the bolts?
I have a 1999 and looked at the Moog Upper Ball Joints at Car Quest the other day; the one I looked at came with all of the bolts.
I did find it interesting and kind of scary though; that the nuts didn't appear to be locknuts of any kind and I didn't see any lock washers in the box anywhere.
