Subject: All 3rd Geb wtih 3" lift IP: Logged
Message: Hello All,
It has been a while. I have a 2000 4x4 club cab dakota. I want to put the PA 3" body lift and run a bigger tire. I have the 17x9 RT wheels already on my truck. I like the wheel and want to run a 17 inch tire. There are only a few off road tires made for a 17 inch rim. Nitto and BFG are two that make that tire. I know that you can run a 33/12.5 tire with the three inch lift. But BFG sells a 305/70/17 tire. It turns out to be 34.5 tall and 12 wide. Has anyone run that large of a tire with only a 3 inch body lift? I do not Off road much but I do not want to scrub either. It seems that all the 17 inch tall tires are 32 inchs tall and 11 inchs wide. I would like to fill the wheel wells a little bit more.
Thanks for your time
Matt Tharp

Message: I checked the conversion and the 305/70/17 = 33.8
I run a 305/70/16 mud tire on my 2001 4x4 reg cab with the PA 3" body lift and have had a little rubbing but nothing that could not be adjusted out by moving the front bumper outward. I get a little frame rub on full turns but I rarely turn my wheel that much. Heres a link to the conversion charts

Message: They list the "true" size on the tire at there web site. Normally BFG runs bigger then the stated size. from my understanding the govermant gives them a +/1 2% on sizing. Thanks for the info about how your truck is set up

Message: with the rt rims given the backspaceing(I used to run 17x9) they will rub the frame, with a little trimiing you shouldn't have any other problems though.

Message: it seems like you want an allterrain I have a set of 265-70-17 lyeing in the shed if your in florida but you probable want larger.
super swamper makes 32 11.50 ssr's for 17's as well as a truxus mt for 17's and procomp has mud terrains and all terrains in 33-12.50 as it seems your leaning towards an all-terrain.
