Subject: Lift Kits Question IP: Logged
Message: This may sound completly crazy, but when lifting a truck, why use the Add A Leaf over the "autozone" universal raise/lowering blocks? Will it effect ride, handeling, or reliability? Thanks in advance!

Message: Add-a-leafs makes the springs stiffer, and at teh same time, lifting the vehicle. Blocks just do one purpose, lift the springs, which lift the vehicle. They can have some bad effects as well. If you hit the throttle hard, it could twist the leafs, creating a "S" shape. i never experienced blocks since my leafs are under the axle, but i did use add-a-leafs and shackles.

Message: shackles is another name for leaf spring hanger. it's the part that hold the springs to the frame.
also, i put in an add-a-leaf on my '02 QC 4x4 this weekend and love the new ride. before my truck felt like it was way too soft and would sag badly in the back with just two dirtbikes. it is not harsh in any way, but i would have to think that is because i have a QC, standard cabs me be too light.

Message: When u install a shackle, it moves the entire suspension away from truck (downwards), meaning the truck goes up. They also inprove articulation a little, but are prone to axle hop.
