Subject: Lock right vs no-slip lockers IP: Logged
Message: Who has experience with either of these,I have a '92 318 auto Dakota, I am ordering a locker tonight, was wondering if the no-slip is really worth the extra $100 over the lock right.Just wondering about street manners between the two.I have an open diff. now and will be installing myself,I am a professional mechanic,so it shouldn't be a problem. Please, only those with a locker in their truck reply,I've already read everthing i need to know, looking for real-world experience!!

Message: if the no slips operation is as smooth as they say then possible I have the lockright and love it but is does chirp the tires in corners and has an operation that is a little bounce in tight parking lots as the locker starts to let go but no big deal.

Message: I have the No-slip and I would definately recommend it. It was relatively easy for me to install in my driveway and it has great on-road characteristics. Makes very little noise and I rarely notice it's there.

Message: thanks for the replies. I found an EXTRA low price on both units from http://www.rocky-road.com/ The lock right is only $250 and the no-slip is $350. I was going to cheap-out and by the lock right, but it is on backorder, so i went ahead and ordered the no-slip, which is really
what I SHOULD buy since this is my daily driver. Can't wait to install it friday night and go play on saturday!! Will let you know how it works out..

Message: The No-slip works awsome. I have one in my R/T and it helps a lot in wet weather. And works awsome at the drag strip. When going around corners if you get on the gas it will lock up and occasionally chirp a tire, but other than that, you will probably not notice much of a difference. It was extremely easy to install as well if you follow the directions closely. And after the first install, you will never need the directions again.

Message: I would probably say based on experience and what others have done, that no-slip is mostly used for daily drivers and street vehicles while the lock right is mostly used for wheelin vehicles that don't see the street much since it's annoying on the road at times.

Message: Here's my opinion:
I think the powertrax automatic locker is preferably the best locker you can get for your money. One reason, is that it's automatic and no switching on and off. Second, it's not that expensive as other lockers. Third, it's rarely detectable, you're running open diffs on the street (except hard-gassing on turns) and locked on the trails. What more can u ask? It never fails to lock (that i know of)and you can rely on it 100%.
ARB lockers are just like the powertrax auto locker but only it's manual. You gotta turn it on and off, plus it cost ALOT. Not to mention u gotta have a compressor on board.
Of course if you are rich, go for the ARB. Money-wise and street/trail rig, choose powertrax. For a trail-only rig, go for detroits.
