Will a grill guard work with a body lift? What kind is good to buy. I might hook up a warn winch so will it work or not i'm probably gonna need a strong grill guard. So whats out there thats good or is there even anything that will not rip off my bumper with a winch?

The grille guard biolts to the truck frame. then swoops up following the curve of the bumper. If you try to ectend the guard itself youll put too much leverage on the extensions and all you wil do is pull the guard forward and down.
I would get the grille guard and then blt it on like nit shoudl and jsut cut the swoop part that would angle over the bumper slightly to a straight line.

personally I would look into a front hitch and a multi mount that you can use on the front and rear hitches. i think that would be your best bet. then the grill e guard is jsut there for looks

I had a grille guard on mine before I put on my body lift. I ended up having to sell it because I couldn't find any way to safely mount it. I looked all over the place trying to find one that worked with a body lift and couldn't find one. It looks like you are gonna have to choose one or the other.

My Manik grill guard works fine. I just had to cut out 3 inches from the bottom brackets.

I don't have any of the closeups posted but you can look at:

i have a warn m8000 and there trans4mer grill guard on my truck. i was looking at getting the body lift from PA. but realised that the guard got in the way. i talked to a local (Maryland)steel fab shop, he told me that he could come up with a nice new frame extation for the mount, that would acomadate the PA lift. haveing to use the 1/4" spacers that waren sent along with 1/4" frame extations. that is a 1/2" worth of steel. so his thoughts would to just carry the 1/2" steel out the the winch tray. that is all good, untill he told me his price tag, of about $700. his thoughts were to just wate till rancho comes out with the sup. lift. you figure it is only a few hunderd more for the rancho lift, so why not. frank

WEll this is radical, but I did this on my last Silverado BL. You remove the bumper, measure back 4" on the frame horns, sawzall em off (I know...I know...). Then you tack weld them up 3" higher and gusset the back side back down to the frame, and finish welding them in place. A welding shop in your area can do it too pretty easy if you don't want too. You can cut it off and tell them how you want it put back on.

Now, this way the bumper is back in line with the body, there is no BL brakets used, the guard fits like it always did, and you can even (silverado remember) install the factory tow hooks (although I don't think I'd ever use them again).

I haven't looked into this for the Dak yet, but I bet it could be done. It really wasn't as hard as it seems either.

Sorry. It was just a fly by the seat of my pants thing when I did it. It would be the same if I do it to the Dak. However, I probably won't this time since I don't have a guard on this truck.

Good luck.

Anybody know who makes a decent Frame-mounted Grille Guard (a lot of them are bumper mount el-cheapos) that will work with a front-mounted reciever hitch? I'd like to have both on my 98 Sport, so I can have the option of a winch when I'm off-roading, and still have some protection. Or even better, are there any combination Hitch/grille guards?
