Subject: 4" SUSP. 2" BODY IP: Logged
Message: I have a 94' 318 auto 4x4, and my question is. When i put on my 4" suspension lift and my 2" body lift, what size tire can i fit, and what backspacing. I want the tires to stick out a little from the fenders but not overboard. I was thinking about 33x12.5x15 but what backspacing. Also is there anything i should know about doing this to my truck, or maybe some unwriten rules that i should know. Also I have my torsion bars cranked and i was wondering can i still leave those cranked to the 2" that they are at. Because if so that would give me roughly 8" of lift and that would just be the SH1T!!!!! Well try to answer these questions.
Thanks, Steve

Message: Steve, one thing to keep in mind, the 4" suspension
lift takes into account using your torsion bars for some of that height. So,if you've already cranked them, expect only an actual 2-3" actual
diffence when installing the kit.I am not 100% sure of this, but this is what I've read elsewhere, and to my knowledge of IFS trucks this is how all lift kits work. You'll also need wheels with a specific backspacing,or the rim will hit the suspension after lifting.Contact the manufacturer of the lift (trailmaster?) for the specs on the wheels.

Message: yeah i'm the other guy that is interested in buying that used lift off the guy but to answer your question the backspace on the rim is 3.50" to a 4.0" backspace on the rim so 3.75 would be the best probably but 92 dakota is right on how he says it utilizes the torsion bar lift cuase i'm running the same setup as you i have a pa 2" on my truck with maxed torsion bars but mine are weak so its really only about an inch higher than stock so i was planning on getting new torisons in order to get 3" out of that lift. did aaron tell you how much those missing parts where going to cost cuase all he told me was that he found out you can order those parts but a friend of mine has a 4" trailmaster on his gmc and he had to get a replacement bracket and he said he had almost 75 dollars in just a little hanger bracket so thats one thing i'm wondering about if i'd buy that lift for say 600 and then have 200 in replacemtn parts then its going to cost 800 for a used lift and i was going to purchase that lift new at the indianapolis show last year for 950$ but i decided to hold off cuase that seems like alot for only around 3" but it'd still be sweet to run 33's

Message: I run 33 12.50's on my 94 dakota sprt 4x4. my torsion bars are cranked a little bit, and I have an inch and a half add-a-leafs in the rear. Explorer pro comp mt's are what I have on my truck. I only had to do a little bit of trimming in the front, it still rubs when I'm doin seroious hardcore offroading though, but it's not big deal.

Message: Michelle,
Caps lock on = YELLING!!!
Nobody responds to someone yelling at them. Besides, you were very vague in your description. If my body was only 3 inches I would want to get it lifted also, but more than a total of 6 inches, because I would still have a case of small person syndrome. I would never be able to get on and off the 35's.
Now, if you ask nicely and provide details, such as:
1. Do you yourself have a 3 inch body, or do you have a 3" body lift on a Dakota pickup?
2. If it is the latter, what year is it?
If not what year are you?
3. If it is in fact a pickup, is it 2 or 4 wheel drive?
4. Are these 35's tires? What brand? Are you using an aftermarket wheel? If so, what size?
All this information is needed to make sure you get the right answers. If you can fill in the details we may be able to help you.
Remember! No yelling......
