Subject: Rear wheels spinning

Hi, I have a 2WD '99 club cab which i drive always unloaded. When I attempt to go up hill on dirt roads of some slope or just leveled on soft sand or mud I get the rear wheels spinning and get stuck. (A passenger car can go through and I get stuck!) The tyres are stock Goodyear Wrangler (G95). Since I drive 80% of the time in paved roads buying more agressive tires seems not a good solution. Any advise besides loading the thing with 200lbs of sand? Thanks!

Whats your air pressure on the rear tires? you may want to lower it a little for more traction. And spinning your tires in hopes of getting traction is no good. next time try to put the tranny in a lower gear and go a little easier. if you have a open differential you can try to click the e brake down 1-2 clicks cause it slows the spinning of the tires and in some cases gets both wheels to turn at once. its a poor mans posi

Thanks Rob, will try clicking the e brake.
The tire's pressure i use is around 30 to 35 psi, the manual recomends 35. Could i use lower pressure and still drive safetly in the paved roads? Is anyone loading the truck to get more traction? Thanks.

Emilio.

i can tell you from experience throw those tires and run far away. they are the #1 reason for gettin stuck. get some bfg A/T tires. that's what i run on one of my jeeps and both of our dakotas. the dakotas are more capable in snow and have very good tire life if you keep air in them and keep rotating them.

very good tires not very noisy, you can get some warranty on them, and i like the looks of them
