Subject: Fitting 33" tires IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 rc 4.7 4x4 with the 16 inch wheels. I want to mount the 33" (305/70r-16)MT Baja Claw radial on my wheels. Will they fit under my truck without a lift? Would they fit with the PA 3" lift? Should I just go with a 30-31" Super Swamper SSR?
To be honest, I don't do a lot of off-roading (simply because there aint many places to do it where I live) so keep that in mind when answering my questions. I'd rather not put a body lift on. I'am waiting for a sus. lift that's bigger then the 3" available.

Message: Gavin,
Have you looked into tuff country suspension for your year? I don't know if they make the 5 1/2 for your truck yet or not but they make good lifts that are worth the money.
33's don't fit on a stock truck without some triming here and there. I'm pretty sure you don't want to do that if you're planning on a lift later anyway. I've heard of guys adjusting their torsion bars out and throwing in a 2" shackle block in the back but I don't like the idea of adjusting the torsion bars out that far so I don't recommend it. If you know what you're doing though you can do it your self for less that the cost of a body lift and go back to stock just before you get your big lift.
Swampers are loud but if I remember correctly the SSR's are actually an aggresive A/T tread pattern with a good hard compound so that may be a better way to go. They'll look awesome and since you don't wheel much they would be ideal.

Message: You'll need either the 3" Rancho or 3" body lift. The 305's will still rub a little on the frame at full lock though.
The rancho can be cranked to about 4.5" over stock

Message: Thanks for the info. I think I'm gonna go with the 31" Swamper SSR.
