Please let me know if you are gonna make it or not. Hollister 1-18-03

To confuse things as always I will go ahead and let the cat out of the bag on the next Pismo run. Pismo Presidents weekend. 2-16-03 Sunday will be the day it looks like.

To further confuse Clear Creek at the Next rain storm. We can only go when it has just rained since it is contaminated with asbestos.

Summing it up:

Hollister group meet 1-18-03 Saturday

Pismo 2-16-03 Sunday

Clear Creek Next big Storm.

Glamis was awsome with one day of wind and the rest were nice and clear in the 70's. Did not get to many pictures of me riding/jumping, just a few of my truck at camp. Posted them at ORW and will put them on my web site when I have time this week.

One girl in our group was on a fast ride and went over the bars and broke her back. Was out of the Hospital in 5 hours with no brace. She has to stay off the Quads for 6 months and can not pick-up her 2 kids for 4 months. Like always it happened the first day.

Sorry to hear about your friend! Glad she is OK!

Send me a copy of the Pismo sunset, that is a great photo bud!

Your truck sure does clean up very nice! To think we were covered 2 weeks ago. I'll say the pile of mud I got from the last trip was the most I have carried back. Next run I am returning some of this back to Hollister!

Gosh i wish i was more reliable!
Here is my deal!

Pismo i can go to cause i have school that month so i will be forced to be up sooner or later, and it's only a few miles away.

Hollister i am still on the fence about cause my ability to get up early and start driving sux. I will attempt at rising for this one, since i need to start getting up earlier since school starts that next week and since my girl will be out of town all that week so i have no prior engagements.

I have no idea where Clear Creek is, or when it's raining there, so i will await further posts from you guys on it before i say anything.

We arrive when they open at 0800 and you can stay as long as you like. Bring a lunch is recommended and drinks. Just make sure you have atleast a half tank.

Since this is a Group Get together there will be lots of new people. Just do not expect all Dakota's but we have a pretty good showing usually. We are the best looking group as well, uh vehicle wise!

I have to leave by 2pm.

HiHo, You're in Fremont, right. I usually leave Mountain View around 6:30 and meet Chris and John at Starbucks in Morgan Hill around 7:15. After that, we arrive in Hollister at 8:00 and hit the trails 'til 1:00 or so. In addition to lunch, a tow strap and clevis hooks never hurt. It's $4.00 to get in the gate.

What's really goin' on?

Stock is fine 4x4, if you have a 2wd you can still travel most trails as long as it is not muddy. Even if muddy we will have plenty of pulling power.

It would be great if you could make it.

Hope you guys have fun! I'm still freezing my butt off in Korea...I think it finally got above 32 degrees today for a bit, but there's still snow & ice patches all over the place.

And I learned the hard way that my $600 Hyundai didn't have a drop of antifreeze in the cooling system, just water. Froze up solid! I discovered this the week I was escorting 11 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders around the country...got to my car at 1:30 am after taking the girls back to the hotel and my car wouldn't start! It had to sit in a parking lot for 3 days until I had time to play with it...left the hood open in the sunshine and waited until the upper radiator hose felt like it had a slurpee in it, then it started right up. I have since corrected that problem!

Hope y'all are free in mid-July to early August...I'll be back from Korea for a month before heading to Ft. Huachuca AZ. Definitely will want to get together.

I am not getting 4WD locked light when engaging 4wd.

Craig,
Remember Saturday when I said my 4WD lock was not on when it was engaged? I must have done something to it will plowing down the hill with air spuing out of the tires.

I have it going to the mechanic tomorrow now. I may be doing a ride along with DJ or JT if it does not get fixed.

Chris, don't worry too much about it. It is a VERY common problem with the Dakotas. There is a sensor in the side of the transfer case that triggers the light. Go down to the dealer, pay $35 (I've heard some get it for $20), ask the guy behind the counter to show you the factory service manual which will show you where the sensor is and basically say
unplug sensor
remove sensor
install new sensor
plug in new sensor
test function of 4wd light

As long as you have 4wd and the ransfer case isn't making crazy noises it's not a problem.

Truck is already at the shop. I need to have it looked over anyway. I thrashed it a little hard last weekend plowing down the hill with 2 flats.
I also plan to hit it a little hard this weekend so I just want to make sure it is all looking good and get his opinion on the items he will be doing when the lift goes on.

I know it was locking into 4wd though. Hell I got the Dodge service manual prolly could have done this myself!

I am hoping to get home tonight to fire them up and see if they have problems. I have 2 so I will bring both 1 should work. You never know when the kids tear em up and do not tell me, Dad I hit the curb full out and well I broke it, just does not happen. I do not blame them.

The trouble shooting on my truck came up that the bulb in the cluster for the 4wd lock lt was burnt out. Guess I have been wheelin to much! Another indication of excessive wheelin, My mechanic asked me if I flexed or streesed my truck while wheelin much. I was like you mean stuffing wheels up in the wells and getting on 3 wheels and stuff like that. He was yeah! Then he said that the body was sliping on the body mounts. The mounts are not loose but just flexed a little causing the slip noise I hear. I can believe that cause taht is exacly what it sounds like.

Everything else looks good and unless I thrash to hard this weekend I will only have the lift installed in Feb.

JT, DJ and I will be at the gate at 8.
