Subject: Dakota wheel Backspacing? IP: Logged
Message: Hello this is my first time posting. Love the web site! Just wondering if anyone knows the wheel backspacing of a 02 Dakota 4wd? Just wanted to know because I am wanting to put a set of rims on my truck and want them to stick out about 1 inch farther than the factory wheels.
Thanks for the help!
02 Dakota Ex. Cab
4.7 5-speed 4wd
3 inch body lift
????? Did anybody else install a 3 inch performance accessories body lift on a 5-speed???
they failled to make something for a 5-speed shifter, so I have my console off and the plate on the floor board off! BIG HOLE, got a rug over the hole until they send me something! Still haven't recieved anything from them after 2 weeks.
Anyone have any ideas on the shifter too? thanks

Message: I think stock 16x8 is 5.5". I just did the pa 3" bodylift and I ordered 33" pro comp at and 589 eagle 15x8 rims with 5" backspacing. My truck doesnt rub anywhere, and the pro comp tires are buy 3 get 1 free right now. I have a 02 quad cab slt+ 4x4.

Message: If you want them to stick out some, go with the 3.25 backspacing. Here is a pick of mine with 33's and a 3.25 backspacing. The only thing that really sucks about this setup is that it is almost impossible to keep your truck clean. You will sling dirt and mud all over it.

What type of lift do you have? If you look down the side of your truck, about how much do your tires stick out past your fender flares? I have a 3" pa body lift and I was wanting to put the eagle 589's on with 33's. No rubbing? thanks
P.S. why is the safari bar off in your pic with truck lifted? Any hints on who has the best deal on eagle 589's?

Message: Mine is a 3" PA Body Lift too. The tires stick out about 2" beyond the fender flares. I had a little rubbing at first and did have to trim a little. But if I would have cranked my torsion bars before I did the trimming, I might not have needed too.
I bought my lift, gap guards, wheels, and tires from 4wheelparts.com because they ship for free. They have the wheels listed at $94 each. That is about the best you are gonna find on them.
I don't have the Safari bars back on yet because I need new mounts welded for them so they won't hang down so low. Same with the step bars.

Message: The only problem with the 3.25" backspacing is that you wear out wheel bearings three times as fast, not to mention how fast the front end components wear out.
