Message: After putting on my 33's, I was shocked at how much power I lost. So, I'm looking to re-gear as well. I am desperately wanting some 4.10's. What is a good price for these and where can I get them?

I know you can get 4.10s from Reider Racing for $400ish. www.reiderracing.com

Message: I just put 3.92 gears in my dakota. The front transfer case was changed in 2000 to a chrysler corporate 8 inch. No one makes after market gears for the front yet so you are stuck with 3.55 or 3.92. I got the rear and front OE replacement gears from Randy's R + P. Not a bad deal $500 front and rear (not including the rebuild kit) I didn't buy a rebuild kit. My truck is fairly new and the installer had all kinds of shims and crush sleeves. Good luck.
by the way... Chrysler wants $375 for the front gears alone.

Message: You could start checking junk yards for a wrecked Dak with the 3.92s. Best bet is to just check with a larger yard and have them see if they can track something down using their locating system.

Message: Just so you know, I don't work for them, but Reider Racing is great. Their tech dept. is great, and prices are probably the best. They even pressed new bearings on a differential for me before they shipped it! As afr as buying from a junk yard, it's probably not worth the effort or insecurity from not knowing exactly what you're getting. Changing gears in transfer case won't help everday driving. I plan on putting 4.10s in my '99 club cab if I go to 33s. If you've never set up gears before, don't! Let a pro do it. There's a lot to screw up!

Message: I have been researching gears for my 2000 Dakota CC 4X4 4.7L for some time now. The 2000 and up trucks have DC's new 205mm front axle. The only gears currently available are 3.55's and 3.91's. Fortunately, DC is also putting this axle in the new 1500 series Ram 4X4. This should help generate interest in more gear combinations for this axle. I recently called Reider Racing (amongst all of the other gear manufacturers)and they said that they were considering making a 4.56 gear set for the 205mm axle. If you are interested in seeing this become a reality you might want to give them a call to let them hear the voice of the market.

Message: Don't quote me on this as being absolute fact, but I believe some of the late 1999s have the 205mm axle as well. My guess is the late 99s with the R&P steering are the ones that have it, don't know for sure.
