Subject: tires for 2000 2wd???? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 Dakota CC 2WD 3.9 V6, with the factory 15x7 rims with the 215/75R15 Tires. Added on factory fender flares now tires and rims are too skinny. I got a good deal on the 15x8 factory rims, and I am curious if anyone knows what biggest size tires i can put on without a lift and no rubbing (and any brand recommendations as well). I have talked to many tire places, and have heard wide range of different info. Wanted to know if anyone else has done this? Trying to get both wider and also higher ride height from the tires.
Also, if speedo and odometer affected, can it be reprogrammed or adjusted - if so by who? I talked to the dealer, and they didn't seem too sure that they could do it. Any help is appreciated.

Message: The biggest you can put on are 31x10.5-15 with no rubbing however you can mannage to put on 32x11.5-15 with rubbing taking place at the sharpest part of the turn. I have the 32 inch tires and i dont have a problem with the rubbing because its not really that bad.
I would recommend Goodyear AT/S 32x11.5-15 They really are an amazing tire that does not get the credit it should get. They totally out preform the BFGoodrich A/Ts i had before which i thought were good untill i put these on. I found myself going through stuff that i would never have gone through before. Plus tread wear is excellent and road handling and noise is superbe.

Message: Rob. 32's will not fit on your 2x4. 31's are the biggest you can go without lifting. I have 32's on my 4x4 stock on there is no rubbing anywhere but at its closest point there is only about a 1/2 inch clearance at the most. When I say no rubbing, that is at full steering lock in both directions and with the suspension maxed out. I have a few pics of the tires at their closest point if you would like to see. Apparrently the discussion is not over about the tires. Goodyear AT/S are very good tires but they are by NO means the best. BFG AT's are every bit as good. I have owned both. Saying that one tire is absoluty the best is ridiculous and ignorant. If you want to see just how good AT/S tires are off road, you come to Florida any time and I will let you see. Again, they are very good tires. But they are NOT the best. There is no BEST. They all work differently in different ways and different terrain.

Message: I've had Goodyear tires before. I've GOT BFG tires now. The Goodyears worked okay when you're on dry pavement, but let it rain and then try and get a grip. The BFG All-Terrain T/A WELL outdoes the Goodyears that were on this truck.

Message: Another tire that is very very good on road and off are the Cooper AT's. They can hold their own right there with almost anyone.

Message: Mar,
Are those tire sizes for 2WD daks? I just measured and 31s look like a really tight fit. I think it'd also make the truck look kinda lame. Do you have any pics of a non-lifted 2WD with the 31s on? Or the 32s.
James.
