Saturday 1-18-03 at Hollister Hills.
We are hoping for lots of rain and lots of trucks. We are meeting with the Off road world group from the central coast (Pismo connection) Great group with great Trucks!
We are trying to get to Clear Creek to check it out but we need someone who has been there before to help us out.
Also anyone from the valley (I-5)know of a place. It seems somewhere about Kettleman city or the 41 or 46 junction there are some trails. Anyone know?

My truck is in the shop right now. Looks like a transfer case problem. I wont know more til tomorrow but I will want to get it right back out to make sure everything is working ok.
I think Craig knows how to get to clear creek, maybe he can take us there to check it out. 14th and maybe the 21st are ok. The 28 th I have Friends in town but he may be up to go wheelin. We'll see what we can do.
The seal in my rack seems to be going and it may be replaced as well. Lets see what the transfer case cost is first cause it'll wait if need be.

I will go either place they both will be dusty will out rain. Clear Creek is probably better with a smaller group so no one will get lost. You two will like that place with or without rain. Lots of hills and valleys to climb and the sandy soil gets whooped out from the dirt bikes. Hollister is easy compaired to the creek. It is a intermediant to extreme place to wheel. The main road is the only easy way around and up the mountain. You can spend 2 days and not use the same trail twice, unlike Hollister.

If it rains hard lets go the next weekend. There will be 10+ creek crossings and snow in the higher elevations. I would rather have the ground wet and clear skies so that you can see for hundreds of miles in every direction. Usually it is misty or smoggy so it gets blurry. It is a place that you can be having your best day right up to the point you crash or break something. Then it becomes you worst day, night, next day wheelin' adventure ever. It has happened before. I make sure I am prepared for everything, and I do not have any problems I cannot handle.
My worse adventure was on the quads with Sheryl and my Dad. I broke a Tie-Rod on Sheryl’s quad because we had wheel spacers and the mud grabbed a wheel. It started snowing and I had to ride the quad with one foot pressing on the wheel to steer. Every water puddle or small creek crossing would make the Banshee turn 90 degrees. Get off and re set it to go 50 feet before doing it again. I had a jacket but one layer on my legs and the snow on me upper legs froze my balls to the seat. jk

East of King City between 101 and I5. Take hwy 46 south out of Hollister and go past the Pinicles, lots of people have heard of the Pinicles caves. Hard to explain but easy to follow some one out there and learn for next time.
Sheryl's work party is Saturday the 21st but Sunday may work. Kevin, you might have to wait tell you get back to the States. Christmas is creeping up on us, I spend bank at the mall today. And nothing for Sheryl, theres more $!

Sounds like a plan just give me a call any time after 4:30pm my wife Mayra will have the phone see can make arrangements or give you the house number to leave a message, for me. I dont know how to get there so maybe we can meet somewhere or I can get directions from you; either way would be great the 21 should be fine because I am off from the 21 through the 29th.

here are some directions...
Take 101 North past Prunedale to San Juan Bautista exit (Hwy 156 East). Take San Juan Bautista exit until you come to Union Road (second stop light). Turn right and follow park signs to Cienega Road. Turn right on Cienega Road and follow signs to the park.

Kevin I think Chris comes from the Valley. He may want to go up to 152 and then down to 156 where he can catch Union Rd. which would be a left then.
Chris,
Is it quicker for you to get to 152 to get to Hollister or is it closer for you take the 41 or 46 across?

I dont know I have never been up that way let me look through my Thomas Guide and see where it is from here (Porterville). I am half way between Bakersfield and Fresno. The 101 is about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away from here so if there is another way I would like to find it.

OK I got it, it looks like about a 3 1/2 hour drive from here; no big deal. I will take CA-198 out of Visalia to I-5 to Panoche RD to CA-25 and then to Cienega. Sounds like a fun drive!
What time does everyone what to meet?

Dakota Chris, it is a great drive if you have never done it. If it is real muddy you may not get far but neither will we but there will be allot of fun mud spots and stuff. Worth it to get muddy!!!
I am only able to stay til about 1pm on the 21st.
RESQready!!! Sure would be great to hook up again!
Ever get that front skid plate on? Really would like to check it out, you know I could use one!
They had a life flight resque at Pismo last trip. We did not see the accident.

Yep, Sheryl's work party is not till after dark. We can go and stay till 1 pm. 5 hour of mud should hold us over tell the next trip.
Chris - I checked my torsion bars and the passangers side was lower than the drivers by 3/8 of and inch. Cranked them both to max and my truck sits level now.

Mayra and I are planning on leaving here at 6:00am so we should beable to make it there around 9:00am. Since you guys have to leave around 1:00pm if you want to get there earlier we can meet up with you inside so you can get started on the fun. I think our cell phone works up there with no problem so we can just call Kevin when we get there.

OK, Second rain storm to hit and my truck probably will not out of the shop bt then. Nationwide back order on one of the Transfer case bearings. I am having the transfer case rebuilt. The part may show up on Friday but at this point I am not to optimistic. I called and so did my Mech, NONE anywhere.
I guess I will just stick with the golf plans even if it rains this weekend.

At least my truck will be ready for the 21st at Hollister.
If I get my truck back Friday can anyone hookup this weekend if it is raining? My golf buds will prolly not show for golf if it is raining. If I have no truck I will polly end up playing golf by myself but I will be in the mud!

i work this weekend, but since i work at a golf course i might be able to get the day off if it is raining hard. on the 21st, how about the usual time, 8 at the green gate??

Damn I am tired, just replaced both ball joints, the idler arm, the brake master cilender, rotated my tires and changed my oil. All after a 10 hour day working on cars. Time to go home and take a shower, I stink.
