yes i stated the NEXT! well if you get the 4x4 mag Petersen's 4Wheel Drive & Off-Road you should look at page 22. on that page (for those that don't get it) it states the following:

"The trade journal Automotive News recently lifted the veil on Daimler-Chrysler's product plans for 2003-2006. Here's what to expect from Jeep and Dodge Truck...... The Dakota is slated for a redo for 2004. It's styling will borrow from the M80 and Powerbox concept trucks, and it may be smaller than the current pickup. The 5.7L Hemi V-8 may be offered as an option alongside the 3.7L V-6 and 4.7 V-8......A year after the Dakota revision, the Durango will be reworked as well. It's platform will still be the Dakota."

that last part was for you guys that like the Durango to. for those that have no clue what the M80 or the Powerbox looks like here's the address to Dodge's concept page with it.

the M80's address:

the Powerbox's address:

I already had plans on getting a '04. I am now rethinking this after seeing and reading this. If this is the way Dodge is going and they do not offer something in the mid size class Quad cab, I better start looking into somthing else.

The M80 design looks like crap IMO. The powerbox look is OK, Put a 6' bed on it and it may grow on me.

I think I have that Mag at home. I will look for it tonight.

I have been waiting for '04 info and looks.

Kind of a let down!

I told you that the Dakota is going to be less of a truck then the Gen 3's.

Man, what is the M80 trying to bring back? the Good ol Power wagon look or a Jeep Scrambler hardtop? NOT DAKOTA

At least the powerbox screams DODGE! Not a big fan yet, but those types of radical design changes need time to grow on me.

I'm w/ you FXF, club or quad cab w/ a 6' bed might be ok. Damn FXF, for fun, just try and picture a Hansen bumper on it! <:-/

I work for a supplier to Chrysler and have seen the hydroform frames of both the next Dakota and Durango. They will be different from each other and the Dakota will be downsized from the current (1/2 ton Ram is figured to take those in the market for a midsize and encourage them to make a slight step up - not hard considering current Dakota costs nearly as much as a full size. With the 1/2 ton going IFS, it became obvious this was DC's plan.) In any case, the next Dakota will go head to head with the Rangers, S-10s and Tacomas of the world and if the ones that I've seen are any indication it will be handicapped by ugliness. I won't be replacing mine with one anytime soon. We're still a little foggy on the Durango, but the front hydroforms are significantly different.

I am already ahead of you on the Jerobie!

I was hoping it could be a easy swap or something maybe Wayne could rig an adapter or something.

I like the Hemi idea but I do not want a truck that looks like crap either!

I agree we need a photo so I need to figure out if I need to start looking elsewhere.

I thought DC was going to add the Smaller class truck and continue with the Mid and Full just upgrade the look and hopefully the Front suspension and RP.
