Has anyone ever had a set of Hercules Terra Trac Tires. I can get a great deal from a friend, so if they are alright, I will get them.

I have them on my truck. They look fine and ride good. Got good tread life too. Been through soft sand, deep mud, and everything in between. Haven't got stuck yet. Only thing I might warn you about is they are quite noisy. I kinda like it though.

A few short hours ago I had a set installed, 31x10.5x15 on my '97 V8 SLT 4x4. They look sweet, I've never had 31's before, and the beefy tread is awesome. They are however noisy compared to my Yoko Geolanders...but they're a whole different tire.

Got them here in Kitchener, Ontario Canada, $137.75CDN installed and balanced (including taxes). Not bad for 31's.....hope they perform alright!!!

I'm runnin a GMC 1 ton Van for work with loads up to 5000 lbs. I put 65 lbs air and have gotten great wear and mileage out of a set. What I do now is put the rear up front and buy a new pair for the rear every year. By the way I do 75,000 miles or more a year, soooo, the front set actually gets 150,000 before I take them off (with some time left on them but I don't care).. GREAT TIRES and if you lived here in New York State I'd tell you where I get mine at $ 100. each tire. I'm using a 10 ply 235 85 R16 A/W..

I have 33x12.50/15 Terra Trac AT's mounted on my '83 yota. I have had a lot of experience with this tire both on and off road, especially off road. It is rated as an all-terrain tire, but my friend has 31x10.50 BFG mud terrains and I can out perform him out on the trail as well as the road(we have the same truck, except mine is lifted two more inches). I get great mileage on the road with these tires, compared to the BFG's, and good, even tread wear. These tires, however, are naturally more aggressive in the 33x12.5 size than their 31x10.5 size, because the tread gets deeper, and the spacing between lugs is greater. I'll say this: these tires perform surprisingly well in sand, mud, snow, and rock-hoppin', as well as good road-handling. Bottom line, these tires will perform almost as well as any mud terrain out there in terms of off-road, and better than any mud terrain on-road, depending on the driver and vehicle. The only other tires that can put these tires to shame would be TSL's, which are the absolute best. The Hercules Terra Trac AT has an excellent tread pattern. The only drawback to these tires compared to more aggressive tires is they don't self-clean as well as mud terrains, so you have to get them spinning a little faster for the mud or snow to fall out. I'll never switch to a different tire unless I upgrade to super swamper because these tires are really just a fraction of a level under mud terrains. I get these tires for a straight $150 per tire, including installation and balance. I give these tires a 7/10, the BFG muds an 8/10, and TSL's are ofcourse 10/10.

I don't usually post however after I couldn't find much information on Hercules Terra Trac AT tires, I thought I'd help out the community. I just bought new LT285 70 17's for my '04 F-150, XLT SuperCab (suicide rear passenger doors) 4X4; here's my take. First off, there is zero rub even with the steering locked. These tires are about the maximum that you'll likely want to go on this vehicle model as any wider and some tread would likely go beyond the wheel wells. I replaced my Goodyear Silent Armor tires; these tires stink; run as fast as you can if someone ever recommends buying GY Silent Armor's! They became useless (worn out) with very few miles driven. Even with a 4-wheel alignment having been performed just before installing these Badyear's they still wore unevenly and cause vibration at highway speeds. BTW; I'm generally NOT hard on my tires; now for the good news. The Terra Trac AT's are far more superior! On my long drive home from the tire shop I was amazed at how smooth my ride had become. It reminded me of when I first bought my 150. They give a quiet ride and are able to take rough road surfaces with ease, (bloody government does little to maintain country roads around here). 3/4's of the way home I realized that small adjustments to my steering were not required in order to keep the truck in a straight line. Let me stress here that there was nothing physically wrong with the Goodyear's and my truck is in meticulous condition, it's just that the Terra Trac's track far better. Wet driving conditions proved no problem at all for the Terra's either. The Goodyear's would always seem to spin a bit when starting off, even when I was trying to consciously avoid it; the Terra's have yet to spin. Long term, I hope the Terra's aren't too soft of a compound, but I suspect it's their better engineered tread design that gives them better footing in the wet. Winter is fast approaching so regrettably, I'll likely have the opportunity to see how they handle the snow soon. As for dirt roads, the Terra's handled them well too; pulling my bass boat out of the river was easy as well. Hope this info proves helpful; I'll report back once we receive another dumping of snow here in the Great White North. Drive safe everyone and keep it sunny side up ; )

It's winter here in Canada and I've never had luck with my BFG Long Trail's... Can't wait to replace them, so I wont! Been looking for replacements and the GoodYear Silent Armor, Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2, Michelin LTR AT2, and General Grabber AT2's CAN'T BE FOUND in less than 1 month. A local shop is willing to install/balance 4x Hercules Terra Trac AT tires for $660.00 CDN out the door. The thing is, I can't find many reviews out there (tirerack or other) and this has my worried about the Herc's - whether I may be disapointed. Does anyone have any additional comments/experience?

Thanks,
Don

I've had numerous Chevy/GMC extended 3500 series vans since 2000 and because of the weight I carry, sometimes 6000 lbs, have always used the Terra Tracs.. 235/85 R16. Have been very happy and they last about 60,000 miles for me in NY. They are quiet in the summer and great traction in the winter if you get an agressive tread. I use the AW tread design but the AT is a much more agressive tread design. We don't get much snow here so the AW is fine for me. Hope that helps, Bob E

So I did buy a set of these 265/70/16 from a place in Oshawa for $680 OTD. The tires are better than the BFG Long Trail's I had before, but they are much louder, especially when I'm coasting and the speed is dropping. When the engine isn't revving you can hear the low resonating hum from the tires. True, the are real AT's unlike the Long Trails. Would I buy again? Too soon to say. I've had better AT's in the past (Yokohama Geolander AT2) but for the price these are hard to beat. I'd say I'm satisfied, but not overly impressed. The tread is nice, and the mileage has remained fairly steady. Looking forward to seeing if they hold up to as many miles are people are reporting!

Wicked tires for the price. I was a BFG guy my whole life, and one year I decided to try the Hercules Trail Digger. I swear by it, and in my opinion is the best mud tire on the market. I've read good reviews on the tire, and it was featured as tire of the year for Toyotas Off Road club, and was featured a couple months ago on Truck-U on the Speed channel. I am now a Hercules guy!! For the price, how it wears, and the performance they are wicked. These tires are actually made by Cooper, with Hercules stamped on the side. On my work truck, we have had Terra Trac AT's and MT's and they were hands down awsome. Wore evenly, lots of rubber, good traction for Atlantic Canada winters!!
