Subject: r/t potential IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2k R/T, my wife and I love snowboarding but I haven't attempted to get my truck up there during the winter. I was wondering, first off do any of you have an r/t with 30-31's on it? .. I assume I would need at least a 3in. lift because the r/t's come dropped an inch from the factory. Also, will I be trashing all my factory suspension upgrades by lifting it?
thanks,
-mike

Message: Actually i have seen a lifted R/T. You can run the fabtech 3" suspension lift (actually a 4" lift for your R/T). This will allow you to run 31" rubber. Problem with this lift is you need revised backspaced rims (rims that stick out farther). It will totally revise/replace your current suspension from one made for street handling to one for off-road, so don't expect the same handling characteristics.
You could also throw on a 3" body lift on top the suspension lift and run 33s, and if you really want off-road ability you could install a rear locker as well and really be able to off-road.
HOWEVER...if you are just looking to get your truck up to the hotel when you go snowboarding you can probably make it with your stock set-up. I've seen all kinds of cars up on the mountains, so your truck should make it with the power it has and the LSD...just get some mud tires or chains for your current tires.
If you want your current ride and handling on your R/T, you really can't replace anything, even doing a body lift without replacing any suspension parts will change your ride cause you will have a higher center of gravity. It all really just depends on what you want your truck able to do, off-road or corner carve.

Message: Hey guys, sorry to bring up a long dead post but I have the same concern. I've been searching all over the net for this for about 2 weeks and this is really all I could find. I've heard people say its dumb to lift an R/T, but quite honestly I don't care. It's my truck and I have different needs now than when I bought it and I'm not to big on speed anymore. Where I live, in southeast Georgia the roads get extremely muddy and my driveway floods all the time. I just need more height with more aggresive tires. I was really trying to achieve the tacoma pre-runner style. I'm sorry if this sounds domb but I can't afford a new truck and I love this one, so why not?
Can I fit 30" tires on my R/T with out lifting it? Maybe doing a 2" body lift would work? Any ideas guys?
Thanks in advance,
Ryan
I used to have an account but I haven't been able to get on in forever due to work. Once again, sorry for the stupidity but thanks for any help.
