Subject: how to get better ride? IP: Logged
Message: I wanted some opinions on how to really smooth out the quality of ride on my truck short of a complete suspension overhaul...better shocks? air bags? I'm trying to get tuff country to work on some products such as mulitple shocks for our lifted trucks but I wanted some other opinions as well.

Message: it rides a bit rougher from the add-a-leafs in the rear, especially for the first couple months until it settles in...my front's a little stiffer from the torsion bars being cranked...so overall its a little stiffer than stock so it actually rides like a truck (solid axle)...from what I hear the rancho lift provides a better ride than stock...I drove a my buddy's yukon and that thing rides as smooth as glass, I would like to get mine riding that smooth...wishful thinking, maybe

Message: Multiple shocks will give you an even rougher ride, they are really meant for absorbing the impact of a jump type situation. I have owned vehicles with Trailmaster and Rancho, in my experience, the resulting ride after lift is dependant on the lift design. Shocks after the fact may help to a degree, but your likely going to be stuck with the ride you have now. If they make them for your lifted application, one option would be to go with the Rancho(probably have your application) or New Pro Comp MX-6(don't they make them for Daks yet) adjustable shocks, you may be able to use the softer setting on the highway to reduce some of the harshness while being able to dial them higher when off-road to prevent bottoming. I would try them before I did any other shocks that are meant for lifted trucks since they tend to have a stiffer ride for off-road use. Adjustability is the only way you can get the best of both-worlds for on and off-road IMO. My next lifted truck will have the MX-6's for sure, heard good reviews on the full-size truck applications.
Maybe some other Tuff Country owners will speak up with opinions on how their truck rides and if they were able to do anything about it?. You'll will probably find it is the same though.
You could always decrease the torsion bar tension and put smaller blocks in the rear to level out but who wants to go lower? not me:)

Message: grrr!!!...I've responded back to this thread twice and it still hasn't posted...WTF!!! It better post this time...thanks for the tips 2thextrem...I was under the impression that a multiple shocks would help soften the ride...its not that the rides bad, I just wanted to see if I could make it as smooth as glass...might not be possible but i figured I'd ask...I'm probably get the rancho in cab adjustable set-up eventually when I get some $$$.
Anyone else heard of King shocks? I'm really curious on how their shocks perform. Any feedback on them would be appreciated.
Lower my truck?? check my signiture :P
