After looking months for the truck I wanted, I found one that comes close. The only thing it didnt have was factory installed skid plates. So in the sales deal, I wanted the dealer to order and install the plates, of course they said "sure we can do that". Well after a month of phone tag, they said we have two plates in and the third wont be avaliable until sometime in January from DQ. I went in to have the two plates installed, well low and behold they cant find one, but they can install the other one, so get on it. I strolling around the new truck lot when the service writer comes out and says "we have a small problem", oh yeah? It seems the plate that fitsunder the gas tank...doesnt. Hmmmm I know I have seen them on other trucks that I looked at, I also know the tanks on the QC's is larger, well sure enough, the plate is to short and thats the only part number thats shown....So for thoes of you that own QC's, do you have a plate that fits the gas tank, and did it come factory installed? That is the question. Or is the dealer jerkin me around?
This is for an 02 4x4 QC

I had the same problem trying to get the skid plates from them. I think I have the part number for the gas tank skid plate. But I decided not to get the other 2 from them because of the fact that they are "composite" (plastic). I'll see if I can dig up the part number when I get home tonight around 10 pm cst.

Mine was like yours Hi Ho Silver. I had to special order them. BUT, they didn't tell me there was a special gas tank plate! I got the composite for two reasons: one, I'm probably never going to do any die hard rock crawling, and two, I only have the v6 and the steel ones probably weigh too much. If I had a v8 and was a serious 'wheeler, I would probably spring for 'em.

Good luck. This is the first I'd heard of a gas tank skid plate for the Quad. I just figured that the rear of the truck was so close to the back axle that one wasn't really necessary!

Thanks for the responses guys. After some horse tradin, I kept the tank plate that doesnt fit and will cut/weld/modify to fit. Having the nessesary equipment to do this may save me some headaches dealing with the dealer, besides it's fun making something work that isint sposta.

My friends 2002 came with factory installed composite plates all around. 3 plates. 26 gallon fuel tank composite plate. I wonder why DC makes these plates such an issue to get.

The composite plates are not the worst things if you do not wheel to hard. The points at which they mount to the frame is where you will see them break first most likely. Just do not high center and you will be fine with composites.

Never late for a Tee time or wheelin with my buddies! Always ready for both!!!Forexfour's home page.
